Active Schools

Intro from our Active Schools Coordinator

Active Schools aims to provide more and higher quality opportunities for children to participate in school and community sport, and to increase capacity through the recruitment and development of volunteers.

Within Grammar Primary I work closely with the senior management team to provide an extra-curricular programme which offers opportunities for all within the school.

Further to this Junior Coaching Academy is a leadership programme offered to Primary 6 and 7. This is delivered over a 5 week block where pupils develop the basic leadership qualities to allow the children to lead playground activities for the younger years within the school.

Part of being an Active Schools Coordinator is to recruit a workforce of volunteers to deliver activity sessions within the school. Within Grammar there are a number of teachers who regularly lead after school clubs along with senior pupils from Kyle Academy who are undertaking leadership programs and coaching qualifications. Student volunteers are also used to assist in the delivery of sessions. Parent volunteers are always welcome and if you would like to get involved please don’t hesitate to contact me.
