PRIMARY 1 REGISTRATION – SESSION 2022-2023

Children whose 5th birthday is between 1 March 2022 and 28 February 2023 should be registered for education during the week commencing Monday 17 January 2022.

You should register your child online for either your catchment denominational or non-denominational primary school between Monday 17 January and Friday 21 January.  You will be asked to attach your child’s birth certificate and proof of residence in the catchment area in the form of a Council Tax Notice and Utility Bill during the on-line registration process.

Children normally attend their catchment denominational or non-denominational school; however, parents may make a placing request for their child to attend any other school under the management of the education authority. Parents/carers should be aware that they must register their child on-line for education at their catchment denominational or non-denominational primary school and then make an on-line placing request to a school of their choice. Placing requests for session beginning August 2022 should be completed online by 31 January 2022.  Information relating to catchment areas and placing requests is available at

www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/schools.

You should be aware that if you choose to make a placing request you will no longer automatically be considered for a place at your catchment school.

If you intend to defer your child’s entry to Primary 1 for a further year you do not need to register your child for education but you must complete the deferred entry application online which will be available week beginning 17 January and should be submitted no later than Friday 18 February 2022. At the time of Early Years registration you will require to complete an online 3-5 Year Application for a further year at an Early Years Centre.
