P1 World of Work Week

It’s world of work week once again and Primary 1 have had a visit from Mr McCardell who is a police officer. They have listened and learned about what it’s like to be a police officer and they are looking forward to having more visits! Here is a slideshow to tell you about their experience.

New library books for P5a

Primary 5a are showing off their wonderful new books that were purchased thanks to the generous sponsored Zumbathon. The class had a discussion about the books they would like to buy such as David Walliams, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Katherine Rundell and many, many more!

Tell us your views on the Pupil Equity Fund

You may be aware that West Primary School has been awarded a large sum of money through the Pupil Equity Fund by the Scottish Government. During the in-service day I consulted with staff regarding the most effective ways to spend this money in order to raise attainment within the school.

I would like to consult with parents and carers as part of the consultation process and would be grateful for your input.

There will be a meeting on Monday 20th February at school from 7pm – 8pm. I would be very grateful if you could attend.

Please return the tear-off slip pupils were given by Friday 17th February.

Primary 7b have been very lucky to receive new books and beanbags for our library which were paid for with money raised from the sponsored Zumbathon.

We had a class vote to decide which books to buy and have picked books by Louis Sachar, Jacqueline Wilson, David Walliams, stories from the Tom Gates and Diary of a Wimpy Kid series’ and many more.  We are so excited to start reading them in our comfy new reading corner!

February Holiday

Just a reminder that Friday 11th February is an in-service day therefore the school is open to staff only.

Monday 13th February and Tuesday 14th February are holidays. We look forward to welcoming all children back on Wednesday 15th February.

Eco Day – Thursday 9th February

We are having our annual Eco Day on Thursday 9 February.  Children should come in their own clothes on that day and wear something green if possible.

Do not go out and buy something for the occasion.  Children DO NOT need any money for donations on this day.

We will be busy gardening and litter picking (weather permitting).  We will be making bird feeders, designing mini gardens in groups, enjoying a visit from “Silly Billy” for the infants and raising our new flags.  Any adults or grandparents who would like to help out on the day should let the office know.

I’m sure the boys and girls will have a fun day while engaging in environmental awareness issues.

Can I take this opportunity to remind you that school will be closed on Friday 10 February and re-open on Wednesday 15 February 2017.  Enjoy the break!
