Monday found Primary 2 squeezing in a numeracy lesson before starting on our ‘How to be healthy’ posters…keep watching to find out who eventually wins the competition to have their poster laminated and choose a prize out of the prize box.
We learned that exercise, healthy food, water, jags to protect us from sicknesses, check-ups with the doctor and getting plenty of sleep are all vital to stay healthy.
Today was the first day of health week and it was a busy day for P5. In the morning we played Basketball. Did you know that it is the only team sport where all players can move anywhere on the court? After break we took part in Junior Jog, learning how to run as a group and keep pace, even a little bit of rain didn’t dampen our enjoyment. In the afternoon we were able to visit Saltire Boxing Gym in Johnstone to learn how to box. It was a great day and we are looking forward to our cycle and walk tomorrow.
As we are now learning about the human body, we decided to plant a garden to appeal to the senses. We have pretty flowers, smelly plants, plants which rustle in the breeze, plants which have a distinct taste as well as plants with unusual textures.
Feel free to look over the fence (on the site of the old nursery) to look at our efforts.
A HUGE thank-you to our’ flower fairies’, Mrs Payne and Mrs Wong, both of whom paid visits over the weekend to water the plants. Our gorgeous weather this weekend might just have ruined our garden without their efforts! Whilst the good weather continues we are open to helpers 🙂
Last week, Primary 2 was delighted to be chosen to have a visitor in school who taught us how to use an i-pad app to make our own clips about our ‘Under the Sea’ topic. We worked in pairs and used a number of pictures inserting them into a presentation adding voice overs, information, photographs of ourselves and our work as well as animations to direct the viewers attention to things we wanted to highlight. The children were much better at this than Mrs Wilkie!
We have asked P7 for their i-pad slot when they are at Loch Insh and we plan to have another go at making our own clips!
Primary 1 have been loving the sun. We have been out for Golden Time everyday this week playing with the toys we bought from our open afternoon raffle. Thanks again everyone!
P3 tuned in to the Authors Live event with Ross Collins who wrote one of our favourite books ‘There’s a bear on my chair’! Ross Collins read us the story and told us how he thought of it and the characters. Then he showed us step by step how to draw the bear. Here are some of our pictures!
