Miss Harper’s Primary 5 pupils had a wonderful time making pizzas at Pizza Express last week.  Thanks to Mrs Brooker for organising and to our parent helpers for coming along!

Primary 1 were amazing yesterday! We danced the St Bernard’s Waltz and the Canadian Barn Dance. We even learned the progressive Canadian Barn Dance!

Primary 1 were learning about snow today and it snowed just for us!

We made these wonderful windsocks to investigate the wind. We made our own compass too. The windsocks helped us to see which direction the wind was coming from. We can’t wait to use them again next week.

P7 have had a very musical week!

We first listened to a classical piece of music and, without being told the title or composer, were asked to interpret the music through Art! We listened to the piece several times and produced some very interesting drawings…

We then learned that the piece was called ‘Storm’ by Benjamin Britten.  It was interesting to compare it to our story, Kensuke’s Kingdom, as the main character Michael had just survived a storm.

After this, we worked in small groups to create our own piece of music to re-tell a part of the story.  We used a range of percussion instruments and also created graphic scores to organise our pieces with one member of each group taking on the role of conductor.  Our graphic scores used symbols, shapes and arrows to explain how the music should be played.  The conductor controlled the tempo.

We spent time rehearsing and then performed our pieces to the rest of the class, explaining the moment in the story they were interpreting and justifying our use and choice of instruments. They were fabulous!

Primary 1 have been enjoying some Scottish Dancing.

Yesterday Primary 2 had their Christmas party. We thought you might like to see the pictures we took of a very special visitor!

We also finally completed our sailboats…we hope everyone’s boat arrived home safely!

We have had a busy few weeks working on the Nativity along with our usual maths zones and language work. We have also been learning about how some other countries celebrate Christmas – ask us about Sweden and Germany, we might even remember how to say ‘Happy Christmas’ in Swedish and German!

We are now all tired out and ready for the holidays!

Primary 1 were surprised with an Elves Workshop in class today. We had our ears on and worked very hard to make some Christmas decorations.

Primary 1 had a surprise visitor at our party on Monday!
