House Assembly

Another week of celebrating Wallace successes at assembly on Friday.  The children found out that Venus was the winning house!  Well done to everyone in Venus for working hard – a celebration to follow.

Together in house teams the children discussed bullying, what it means and how it should be dealt with.  The children’s ideas will all be pulled together to write the school’s Anti-Bullying Policy! (Happy Together. LearningTogether. Succeeding Together.)

Smartie Challenge

Thank you very to the Parent Council for organising the Smartie Challenge which raised an impressive £995.84.

The draw took place at assembly on Friday and all winners were delighted to receive a cinema voucher.

Well done to everyone in the nursery class and primary school who participated and contributed to this very successful fundraising event.  (Succeeding Together)

School Vision and Values

We were delighted to launch our school vision and values to pupils at assembly. We had a huge drum roll to build up to it and Joe was given a huge round of applause for developing our vision.

Well done to Joe, we are so proud of him!

Our vision is:

Happy Together
Learning Together
Succeeding Together

Our values as voted by staff, pupils and parents are:

Respect
Kindness
Friendship
Honesty
Ambition

Fun at Computer Club

Over the weeks the boys and girls have been practising their keyboard and mouse skills at Computer Club. They can successfully login, type their name and use the drawing tools.  They used the Big Brown Bear website to learn where all the letters on the keyboard are.  Here is the link so they can play the game at home:

Positive Feedback

Message from @StuartReid So proud to receive feedback like this about our pupils. #luckyheadteacher.

“Thank you so much for inviting me to Wallace Primary School today. The children were an absolute joy to present to, and please pass on my thanks to all the teachers and helpers too. Hopefully, all the feedback has been good and everyone enjoyed my visit.

If there are any little readers who forgot their money on the day, just let me know their names and I will sign the books and pop them into the post asap.

The children are a credit to their school, and I look forward to meeting you all again in the future.”

Stuart Reid Assembly

A huge thank you to @StuartReidBooks for a fantastic assembly this morning! Stuart told us all about his journey to become an author and about his books. It was a fun, engaging and motivating assembly.  What a way to end the week!

I’d also like to thank the Reading Rangers for inviting Stuart to Wallace Primary.  The group wrote an email to Stuart and helped organise the event.  Well done everyone!

World Book Day Reminder

We are looking forward to World Book Day at Wallace this week. Boys and girls in the school or nursery are reminded they can ‘Dress up or Dress Down’ on Thursday. They can dress as a book character, come in their pyjamas or their own clothes. There is no charge for this. We will hold a costume parade in school for those dressed up to show their costumes off to the other classes.

This year World Book Day is promoting “Sharing a Story.” Children will be issued with a reading challenge which encourages them to share a story in many different ways. We are also very excited to welcome a number of parents to Wallace to Share a Story with classes. It is great to have so many parents coming in and involved in the life of the school.
