Thank you to the Parent Council Fund Raising Committee for securing funding from Aviva to purchase equipment to enhance the nature garden and playground. The children loved building the equipment.
The nursery will benefit from a planter to add to their garden area. The nature garden has been enhanced with a bug hotel, water butt, compost bin and weather station. All of this will promote teaching and learning across the curriculum. #LearningTogether.SucceedingTogether.
Primary 6 have used their cooking skills to lead learning. The children in P6 confidently directed and supported the nursery children to make a Fairtrade recipe! #HappyTogether.LearningTogether.SucceedingTogether.
Please find attached parental survey and feedback from parents who completed the survey in November. The results are overwhelmingly positive and I am delighted to see the recognition for the hard work of our pupils and staff. It also highlights areas for discussion, which will take place with staff, Parent Council and Pupil Council.
Please check our website for the full results, including comments.
We know that Fairtrade foods can be more expensive but we have learned that farmers get a better price for their products and communities can use their Fairtrade Premium to make life better for everyone.
Today pupils in Primary 5 made Chocolate Banana Flower Muffins using Fairtrade cocoa, sugar, bananas and chocolate buttons! It was hard work but the results were worth it!
Primary 5 pupils learned about Fairtrade across the world when they played the Trading Game this week. Each team was allocated a country, different resources and different amounts of money – and were tasked with producing shapes which earned them money!
Pupils developed skills in using different equipment to create shapes, accounting, cooperation and communication! Teams used their money to buy additional resources or traded resources with other countries, India was the winning country with over £4000 earned!
Wallace staff demonstrated excellent skill in the cooking classroom. The staff worked in teams to create a variety of wonderful dishes from the same set of ingredients. Determination, creativity, team work, cooperation, research and numeracy skills were all on display but most importantly everyone had fun! Well done to the winning team – Purple Plums – who cooked up a vegetable pastry starter and curry dish! Happy Together. Learning Together. Succeeding Together.Â
The Eco Committee harvested carrots from the Wallace Garden and used these to make soup. They roasted peppers and cut onions to add with the carrots. The results were delicious.
Primary 5 participated in the Food for Thought Cook Along Live session. They enjoyed developing their cooking skills to work together to make a delicious dish. The children shredded, grated peeled and sliced a range of vegetables to make a sensational vegetable noodle pot.
