Health Week Day 4

Today was another busy day for P5. In the morning we had a game of P5 v P5A rounders, to warm us up for the day.

We also had the opportunity to learn some British Sign Language. We were able to learn how to sign the alphabet as well as some simple phrases. This was great fun, we are so greatful to have had the opportunity to learn and it is something we will keep practicing.

In the afternoon we had the opportunity to enhance our archery skills. We learned how to properly handle the bow and arrow as well as having target practice and playing some games.

Guess who hit the bullseye!

We are really excited for our last day of health week tomorrow, to open Tropical Tastes, our fantastic smoothie bar.

Health Week Day 1

Today was the first day of health week and it was a busy day for P5. In the morning we played Basketball. Did you know that it is the only team sport where all players can move anywhere on the court? After break we took part in Junior Jog, learning how to run as a group and keep pace, even a little bit of rain didn’t dampen our enjoyment. In the afternoon we were able to visit Saltire Boxing Gym in Johnstone to learn how to box. It was a great day and we are looking forward to our cycle and walk tomorrow.

Tennis

Today Primary 5 were lucky enough to have a visit from Graham, a tennis coach @Strathgryffe Tennis Club.  We worked on our throwing and catching skills and we learned how to serve. To practice all of our new skills we played a few short games of ‘Champion of the Court’.

We can’t wait for our second tennis lesson next Thursday.

P5 Post Snow Day Workout

@thebodycoach Having been off for three days due to the snow ⛄️we wanted to keep our fitness levels up.  We decided to do a high intensity workout, following along to a video by Bodycoach Joe Wicks. It was hard work but a lot of fun. There were many sweaty faces but there were smiling ones too!

By Ewan and Liam.

Health and Wellbeing

Primary 5 have been learning what to do in an emergency situation. Today pupils were learning about the recovery position, when to use it and how to place someone into the position correctly.  Pupils were also able to practice their new skill on one another.

Using Descriptive Language

Miss Montgomery’s literacy class have been working on using descriptive language to enhance our writing. Today, we focused on our five senses to describe a setting. We used our desks to make notes about each image and then created a short piece of writing using our notes.

Senses Experiment

Primary 5 have been learning about the 5 senses this week and conducted an experiment to find out just how good our senses are and the impact they have on our daily lives.

We had to identify what objects were hidden in the box using our sense of touch.

We used an eye test chart to test our sense of sight.

We had to use our sense of smell to figure out what was in the cups. One of them smelled really bad!

Using our sense of sound, we had to decide which audio frequency was the highest.

Finally, we used our sense of taste to determine what flavour the different plates of crisps were.

Our experiment was a great success, we would like to make some changes and try it again to make it even better.
