Religious and Moral Education

St. John Bosco primary school has two parish communities, St. John Bosco in Erskine and Our Lady of Lourdes in Bishopton, we are supported by Father David Boyd of St. John Bosco parish and Father Peter McGarry of Our Lady of Lourdes  parish. Our children are proud of our parish links and the part this plays in the wider community.

As a denominational primary school  our Religious and Moral Education programme is based on the teachings of the Catholic Church. In addition to this, we also learn about other world religions throughout the school.

Religious education in Catholic schools takes place within the context of the wider Catholic faith community, in partnership with home and parish. It is an integral part of the Catholic school, which is itself a community of faith. It is designed to assist children and young people to be increasingly able to make an informed and mature response to God in faith and to nurture that faith. It offers opportunities for both evangelisation – proclaiming the Gospel message to all – and catechesis – the deepening of existing faith commitments among believers.
