Anti-Bullying Survey

We are currently reviewing the way in which we deal with any incidents of bullying in our campus. We are going to be supported in this process by Brian Donnelly, who is a specialist in this area. He is not working for the school, council or government but is simply here to make sure we gather views from all our families, parents, pupils and staff in order to ensure that our Anti Bullying Policy is the perfect fit for West Johnstone Shared Campus.

A huge thanks go to those of you who attended the open parent/carer session with Brian today at the Lynnhurst Hotel. However, if you didn’t make it, we would still like to hear your views though our online survey. Please ensure you take a few minutes to share your opinions and ensure your voice is heard.

P3 Spooky Clay models

Primary 3 are enjoying their time in the STEAM Cloud. This week we were using clay to manipulate Spooky Halloween models.

👻🎃🧙🏻‍♀️🧛🏼‍♂️ Happy Hallowe’en! 🧛🏼‍♂️🧙🏻‍♀️🎃👻

Yesterday we held our annual Hallowe’ en Parade, alongside our friends from Cochrane Castle. We saw everything from witches and skeletons, to dinosaurs and robots! 🧙🏻‍♀️💀🦖🤖

We then had lots of fun and games at our party, and there were some very impressive dance moves on show! 💃🏼🕺🏻

Here are a few photos of the fun!

Dream Island Family Learning Sessions

Just a reminder of last week’s invite to all our families, parents and carers to join one of our Family Learning Sessions happening in Dream Island.

The sessions will be lead by Emma and are a great opportunity to join your child in the library setting. No need to sign up to the full block, just attend when you can. See the timetable below:

We are really looking forward to seeing you.

Busy Learners in Primary 3

Lots of learning taking place this week in Primary 3!

From Mrs Mackenzie getting told what she should be for Halloween, to creating a lesson underwater, using coins to pay for items, using SEAL materials to come up with our own games, learning about Owls, woodwork, and much more!

Primary 3 have also enjoyed exploring with the wood work tools in the Steam Cloud. Learning about the safety of each tool and how to use them properly.

There are many benefits of woodwork which include;

  • Emotional/Social: Sense of competence, confidence, responsibility, respect for self and others, respect for materials and safety
  • Physical: Hand-eye coordination, strength, and fine-motor control
  • Cognitive/Intellectual: Mathematical thinking (size, shape, volume, measurement, directionality, geometry), engineering skills, creativity, and inventiveness
  • Aesthetics: The smell and feel of wood, the dusty friction of sanding something smooth, the contrast of warm wood and cold metal

Primary 3 will become makers, tinkerers and engineers. We want our children to master science concepts, and they will have the opportunity to take part in real experiences.

As children become more skillful at using the tools, they solve problems, become flexible in their thinking and doing and confident about their abilities. The woodworking opportunities provides the potential to help children develop important skills in science, engineering, and mathematics and gain a sense of power, satisfaction and accomplishment.
