Clothing and School Uniform

In St. Charles’ Primary School parents are asked to provide their children with the following items of school uniform.

Grey/black trousers/skirt, white shirt, & school tie, white polo shirt, grey jumper/sweatshirt/cardigan, grey blazer with school badge or an alternative outdoor jacket of any colour.

Tartan items should not be purchased.

Summer Uniform

During the months between the beginning of May and the end of September, parents may dress their children in the summer uniform.  This is entirely optional and will depend very much on warm weather.

The summer uniform is:

Grey shorts with white polo shirt or blue  & white gingham dress.

PE Uniform

Children should wear shorts,  polo-shirt/tee-shirt and sandshoes or training shoes during Physical Education lessons.

In the interests of health and safety, of both individual and others present, all jewellery, including body jewellery, must be removed before taking part in physical education lessons or physical activities. This includes swimming lessons.

Grants for footwear and clothing for children are available to parents receiving:

  • income support;
  • income based job seeker’s allowance;
  • pension credit;
  • housing benefit;
  • council tax benefit; or
  • depending on annual income, child tax credit or working tax credit.

More information can be found here.

If at any time you need support with providing uniform for your child please contact the school office. We have Uniform Rails with many quality new & used uniform items available by request.

We host a Uniform Sale every May. On this day, both new and gently used uniform items are available to purchase at very low cost. In addition, we run a Winter Jacket Sale each October/November to help prepare for the colder months. Outside of these times, parents can still access our Uniform Rails if their child has outgrown or damaged items. The Uniform Rails are stored in the girls’ changing rooms and can be opened by appointment. Please speak to the office staff to arrange a suitable time to visit.                                                    Unfortunately, due to limited space, the rails cannot be open daily, but we are happy to accommodate families whenever possible. We would  encourage you to make use of this service whenever needed. Please also hand in any donations of quality uniform items that your child no longer needs that can be sold & re-used by others.
