Keeping Children Safe Online Webinar – Wednesday 25th February 2026 at 5:30-6:30 pm

Parenting Across Scotland are delighted to be able to run this webinar again for Cyber Scotland Week 2026.

Want to know more about how to keep children and young people safe in an ever-increasing digital world?

The internet can be a wonderful place for children and young people, from helping with school research reports, to communicating with teachers and friends, and playing interactive games. But the online world also comes with risks, like inappropriate content, cyberbullying and scams. Police Scotland are keen to increase awareness around some of the risks associated with the digital world in order to keep the public safe online. We know that ensuring children and young people stay safe online is a concern for every parent and carer. In partnership with Police Scotland’s Cybercrime Harm Prevention Team, Parenting Across Scotland is hosting a virtual event for parents and carers during Cyber Scotland Week 2026. Parenting Across Scotland are also delighted to be joined by representatives from Education Scotland who will discuss concerns about the use of technology in schools and digital awareness in the curriculum.  Click here to book your FREE ticket via Eventbrite.

Money and work

Parent Club have launched a new campaign to help families who are struggling and feel overwhelmed by the additional pressures brought on by the current economic crisis.  The campaign helps raise awareness of the support that is available to families on the Parent Club website.

Valentine’s Day Disco

Local Radio Station Johnstone Sound visited Riverbrae School today to celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day with Disco.

This is what John Hood and Davy Welsh from Johnstone Sound had to say.

We’re here today to celebrate and entertain the exceptional young people from this very special school!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope your day is full of love, laughter, and sweet surprises!  We all had a fantastic time at the Disco.

Thank you Johnstone Sound!

Cameras from Creative Computing

Class 406 visited Creative Computing  to collect a brilliant prize of 34 digital cameras (one for every class!)

Here is what Creative Computing had to say:

The students from Riverbrae school dropped by Creative Computing today to pick up their prize, won by two of Scotland’s largest TikTok and Twitch streamers @Kezmurph67 and @MyNamesMidas. They accepted our Fortnite challenge and stayed up into the wee hours to win a boxful of cameras for Riverbrae School.

All the kids got to meet Kez and Midas and even left with some Creative Computing swag, including a pen, mat and USB light. Kez and Midas didn’t leave empty handed either, the kids hand-crafted a thank you card which they all signed and even gave them a box of chocolates! Although not before some of the kids made the box a little lighter 😊

We greatly appreciate the business Riverbrae have given us over the years and we’re so happy we were able to give back in a meaningful way. The work put in by all members of staff at Riverbrae school is immense but wholly worthwhile given the number of happy faces we greeted this morning.

Beat the Street Award

On Monday 19th January, Head Teacher Lynne and  teacher Lorna went to St Mirren stadium with Craig and Daniel from the secondary department. This was to represent the school at the ‘Beat the Street’ awards ceremony. We were placed first in our category and won a £50 voucher. Well done to Lorna who did the organising for this, and all the staff, families and children who walked for miles. Most importantly it was wonderful to see our young people achieving and bringing home a trophy. Time for a trophy cabinet!

Robert Burns 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are pleased to inform you that Riverbrae will be celebrating Burns Night with a fun Scotland-themed day on Friday 23 January.

To mark the occasion, children are welcome to take part by wearing Scottish-themed clothing such as tartan, kilts, blue and white colours, ribbons or other Scotland-inspired accessories. Scotland tops are fine but no other football colours please. We will offering optional face painting with simple Scottish designs, such a small flag or flower.

If you do not want your child to have their face painted, please let the class team know in Learning Journals.

Participation is entirely optional, and there is no need to purchase anything special, simple colours or small accessories are more than sufficient.

This celebration is a lovely opportunity for pupils to learn about the life and work of Robert Burns in an enjoyable and inclusive way.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
