The contains creative activities from topical games to engaging worksheets. PDF, Word and Powerpoint files can be downloaded and printed. The site offers the vast majority of its lessons for free. though you do need to register.  Materials are language checked by native speakers and edited, with clear teaching notes and answers provided. Real life resources to challenge and engage pupils.

 

Duolingo
Beginners onwards

Learning with Duolingo is simple and easy to follow. Provides training in speaking, listening, reading and writing on a website or app. Option of several languages including Spanish, French, German and Italian and most of it is free to access with the opportunity to upgrade.

BBC Bitesize

second level to higher

Organised by sector and for the Scottish Curriculum.  Class Clips organised into themes, are provided in BGE levels for Spanish, German, French and Italian starting at second level For N4 to Higher there are notes, worked examples and quizzes.  This could be a valuable revision tool for learners in the senior phase. *Requires adobe flash player

 

High Five Primary French and Spanish

Short videos following a French and Scottish girl as they learn about each other’s languages and cultures.  Really useful resource and free for schools to access at the current time.   You can also subscribe to their full French and Spanish courses for free for 3 months.

​A resource to support learning French, using all four language learning skills. Activities allow learners to match the written and spoken word, to listen and respond to language used in the context of the story and to write in French in a variety of ways. The resource also supports practitioners by offering a platform that can lead to wider learning opportunities, especially in exploring the cultural aspects of ‘Bandes Dessinées (BD) – comic books – in the French speaking world.
