I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday.  Homework and news as follows:

Homework

Spelling  – This week our sound will be igh as in sight and light

Reading – New books will be issued on Monday

No maths this week although the children can play any of the computer maths games that they have played previously.

Wordwalls will be out next Monday.

News

This week we will be starting our new topic all about Africa.  As you know one of our Primary 2 teachers Miss Cauley, will be visiting in the summer and we are so excited to learn about this continent before she goes.  The children will be involved in a discussion to determine what they would like to learn and what they already know.

This week the children and I will finish evaluating the targets they set last term.  New targets will be in bookbags next Monday.

Big Pedal starts on Monday 23rd April and runs for 2 weeks.  The children are encouraged to scoot or cycle to school if possible.  We will have time during the day for Big pedal time too in the school playground.  The children should bring a helmet.  If the children do not bring a scooter or bike they will be encouraged to share and take part in physical activity at these times.

Thank you as always for your continued support.

Mrs Fulton/ Mrs MacKenzie

Big Pedal

Coming soon to Bishopton Primary – The Big Pedal is organised by the cycling charity Sustrans.  Every year they encourage children in schools all over the UK to cycle or scoot to school.  Parents and teachers are encouraged to join in too.  Every journey made is recorded over a 10 day period.  The school with the most journeys is the winner.  Prizes are awarded every day.

In Bishopton Primary, there is a special certificate for each daily class winner and an extra cycle/scooting time awarded to the over all winning class.

We ask that children cycle or scoot to school (but not in the playground before school or on the way home from school).

At some time every day, teachers will take their class to the playground to cycle or scoot and improve fitness , as well as having fun.

We would ask that all children wear a helmet on their bikes and , if they have one, on their scooters. Please make sure all helmets fit properly and are undamaged.

Please help us protect your child’s safety by checking over their bike or scooter before they bring it to school.

If your child has a lock for their bike or scooter they are welcome to use it, as bikes and scooters will be stored in the playground.  Children are responsible for looking after lock keys.

Let’s hope for good weather. Please join in if you have a bike (or scooter!) If you would like to find out more or just keep up with our progress, you can check out the Sustrans Big Pedal website.

Non-Uniform – Wednesday 28th March

A reminder for all classes (except P3H who will have their own day on Thursday) should wear their own clothes on Wednesday 28th March and bring a donation for Uganda. A letter was issued last week explaining that Miss Cauley will be working in Uganda this summer on a teacher training project in the Masindi region. Any support would be much appreciated. Thank you  in advance.

P2C Week Beg 26.03.18

What an amazing day in Primary 2C! I have been absolutely blown away by the ‘Oor Grandparents’ projects that have been coming in. Children have been presenting throughout the day and should be very, very proud of themselves. I cannot wait to hear some more stories tomorrow!

Children have also been working very sensibly and safely to make some tasty surprises for our Open Afternoon tomorrow – we hope you like them!  Details are as follows:

Our open afternoon on Tuesday 27th March starts at 2pm.  Please wait at our fire door at the P2C classroom to be let in.  There is an event in the gym hall which means we can’t allow access through the main office as usual.  The children will perform for you and then you will have the opportunity to see around the Primary 2 classrooms finishing in our own.  At around 3pm you will be asked to wait outside in the playground for your child to be dismissed as usual at 3:15.  The children can’t wait to show you all of their hard work and tell you all about out topic.

Homework: There will be no formal homework home this week although children are welcome to play Sumdog or phonics games. P.E.  bags and wellington boots will also be sent home on Wednesday of this week.

Congratulations: Well done to Abigail who was 21st in the Renfrewshire Sumdog Contest!

Cars: Our cars have been built, decorated and tested. Wow – what a fun time we had making and playing with our vehicles! All the children did a super job and you can test them out yourselves on our open day! Well done to Adam and Abigail whose car was judged as the overall P2 winner.

Dress Down Day: We will host a Dress Down For Uganda non-uniform day on Wednesday 28th March. Children can come to school in their own clothes in exchange for a small donation. Money raised will go toward my GLP summer placement in the Masindi region of Uganda. Thank you so much to all those who have already spoken to me about this placement – I cannot wait to share this adventure with the children and take them on their own classroom journey in Term 4!

Lastly, report cards will be issued on Thursday 29th March.  School closes at 2:30 on Thursday for the Easter holidays and reopens on Monday 16th April at 9:00.

Thank you for your support this term – it has been invaluable. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a super week ahead.

Week beginning 26th March

Good evening everyone,

News for the last week of term!

NO HOMEWORK!

‘Oor Grandparents’ projects are due tomorrow.

As it is the last week of term, there will be no homework. I will send homework diaries and book bags home this week and it would be great if you could have a look through your child’s book bag for any letters, books, etc. that need taken out. I will send PE kits home on Thursday after our final PE session.

OPEN AFTERNOON- TUESDAY 27TH

We hope you are looking forward to visiting our classrooms on Tuesday. We will be starting our open afternoon at 2pm and we ask that you wait outside my firedoor until we are ready for you. We will be performing with the other P2 classes and then you will have an opportunity to go around each classroom and see a few things we have been learning about this term. Make sure you have your dancing shoes on for P2B’s classroom!

Thank you for all of your support this term.
