We are looking for your help. This week and next week we will be doing some junk modelling. We are going to create our very own castles. The cildren love to cut out the cardbord and stick it back together. As a result we are short on resources to use. Could we ask for some cardboard boxes, all shapes and sizes or old recycling pieces that you could donate to help us create castles.

• Please enter through your child’s outside classroom door (where they line up). Any buggies or prams can be placed outside in the corridor to free up space in the classroom.

This afternoon we were learning about proper nouns. In the pictures below you will be able to see the children looking at the difference between common nouns and proper nouns. In groups we then created silly stories which had proper nouns in them.

These are purely for those activities which you feel your child could benefit from making jottings, writing sums, adding pictures/photographs. Please do not feel that these have to be used every week, they have been provided to aid your child in their mathematical thinking. The grid has also been designed so that you are able to challenge and support your child as you feel necessary. During today’s masterclass I was really impressed by the wonderful ideas which the children shared for our Halloween story.

We all worked together to create a story which included all of our ideas. Have a look at some of the creations.

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend.

Your child has been issued a maths homework jotter. Inside of the jotter a maths grid has been created for learning covered across the whole term.  Please choose 1 activity per week to complete and revisit over the course of that week. This will reinforce the teaching covered in school. Your child can include things like pictures, sums and working inside of their jotter to help them complete tasks.

Handy tips

•  Remember there is a 100 square in your child’s homework diary.
• Challenge your child as you see fit.
• Remember to use Sumdog as an additional resource for your child’s learning.
