Please note that from now on each week, children will receive their reading books on a Monday and should be returned on a Friday.

This week the children have also been introduced to a Castle home learning task, which is to be handed into class on the week beginning 3rd December. All of the details are inside your child’s homework diary.

Hi there

If you wanted your child to have a photograph with a sibling in the school, these will be taken tomorrow so that you know if they have to wear a shirt or not.

Your child has their Christmas card order form in their bag. If you wish to order any cards etc, please complete and return with the correct money in the envelope provided by Monday 29th October.

Please check the spelling of your child’s name as the original form was scanned by a computer so there may be errors.

I hope that you all had a great holiday. Homework for this week is due on Friday due to it being a short week and the spelling test will take place on Friday too.

Spelling

This week we are looking at words with ll. Today the children came up with some fantastic words using our spelling rule and as a class they selected the following for their homework:

Annabelle, smell, bell, tell

The common words are:

by, word, but not

Reading

Children will select a book from the class library to read at home as running records will be completed with your child this week.

Maths

Counting forwards and backwards to 30 and sumdog. Your child will have their log in details in their book bag or at the front of their homework diary.

Reading

The children have picked a book from the library to read to you at home this week.

Maths

Maths homework this week is sumdog to revise addition skills and shape from last term. I have told the children that I will check how they have been getting on on Thursday.

Spelling

Our sound this wee is ‘ff’. The spelling words we chose were:

Red Group: off, cliff, puff, stuff.

Blue Group: off, cliff, fluff, toffee.

The children have been told which group they are in and have put a coloured dot inside their homework jotters to remind them.

Our common words this week are:

by, words,  but and not.

Running records will be completed with your child this week. As a result children will choose a library book to read for pleasure at home.

This week P2F have been looking at partitioning into equal shares.  

The children have asked me to put some songs on the blog that we were listening to yesterday.

This one is helping us learn our French numbers up to 20.

This one is helping us remember our short vowel sounds.

Good afternoon! Here is our homework for the week ahead:

Maths Homework is due on Thursday. Spelling and Reading Homework is due on Friday.

Reading

Each child has been given a new school reading book to read aloud and discuss this week. These will be collected in on Friday.

Maths

The maths homework this week is revision of number bonds to 10. I went over this in class with the children today so hopefully they can complete this. The sheet should be completed and handed back by Thursday.

Spelling

We discussed short vowel sounds today (when the vowel makes its own sound) and came up with some fantastic words! The spelling words we chose were:

had, exit, snip, odd, under

Our common words this week are:

from, or and one.

This week’s spelling pattern is ‘short vowels’. These are vowels that make the letter sound as apposed to the letter name. For example cat (short vowel) pair (long vowel).
