Homework w/b 7/12/20

Hello everyone,

Please find the homework for this week below.

Spelling

In class, you will have learned the new spelling rule magic e with i.
For your spelling homework, we would like you to write the spelling rule and common words out three times. We would also like you to create a sentence of your own. Your sentence should include at least one or more of the spelling rule words. If you would like to add more challenge, why not try to grow your words or think of other words which follow the same spelling rule. There is an example below. This should be returned by Friday for your teacher to mark.

Here is a little video to help remind you of the spelling rule this week.

Maths

The maths homework grid should be attached to the assignment. The chilli challenge questions should also be attached. Please remember to only complete one activity a week. The activities chosen should be different each week. This is to give the children some variety.

Your child has been issued a new book to read at home.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s teacher

P2G Maths Week Scotland

Good Afternoon!

We have had such a great week this week celebrating maths week!
We have learned lots about tiling and used numbers in our PE lessons in games of tig and fitness stations. We completed a maths trail in the playground and made a symmetrical butterfly. We also created our own shape people.  Yesterday, we met a mysterious maths wizard who needed our help solving some maths problems. We also combined maths and literacy by writing a poem about what magical maths items the wizard may carry in his pockets to help him with his maths magic. In the afternoon, a present appeared from him showing us all of his magical items – we were so excited! We have had such a good maths week. Photographs have been posted on the school Twitter.

Homework w/b 21/9/20

Hello everyone,

We hope you had a great weekend. The details for this week’s homework are as follows:

Spelling
Children will be shown the spelling rules in class as normal, however, they will not copy spelling into a jotter or homework diary. It will be posted onto the blog and in their Teams page as an assignment. Children can complete their homework in two ways:
1. Complete using teams notebook and assignments.
2. Can be completed using paper and take a photo. Submit/attach the photo to the assignment on teams.

Numeracy and maths
Children will have a numeracy and maths grid on their Teams page. The grid will be in the files section and attach to the assignment. Each week your child should complete one of the tasks for the Thursday of the same week. As with spelling you can evidence this in two ways.
1. Complete using your notebook on teams and submit the work to the assignment on teams.
2. Complete on paper (depending on the task) and take a photo. Submit/attach the photo to the assignment on teams.

Reading
Every Monday your child will be given a reading book. The reading book can stay at home until the Friday of the same week. The book must be back on Friday. On Friday the books will be stored and quarantined, this is in line with new COVID regulations. As a result, it is important books are returned on Friday. This week, books will be required back on Thursday (24th) due to Friday being a holiday. This will allow us to quarantine the books over the weekend.

Phonics Game

Good Morning

Today we played a phonics game to help us with spelling sounds with the sound ‘ch’ in them. The children asked me to put the game on the blog for them to play. It can be adapted to suit lots of different sounds.

Week Beginning 24th August

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a lovely weekend. Just a few reminders for the week ahead:

  • Please ensure all personal belongings are clearly labelled, including water bottles.
  • Outdoor gym sessions will be on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week. Please ensure your child has suitable waterproof clothing and footwear for being outside on these days.
  • Unfortunately, we are unable to store any items of clothing in class at this time, e.g. puddle suits/waterproof jackets or trousers. These can be kept in your child’s school bag and will be sent home at the end of each day.
  • Please help your child to practice putting on their jacket so they get used to zips / buttons, as necessary. If your child is coming to school with lace up shoes, please practice tying laces at home.
  • Only one snack is required for playtime and I would appreciate if this could be kept in your child’s school bag rather than their lunch box.
  • Please encourage your child not to bring any toys into school.
  • If there are any changes to usual end of day pick up arrangements,  the class teacher / school office must be informed in advance.

Today your child was given a letter home about the annual flu vaccination. These are to be returned by Friday 28th August.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 25th August) is myself and Miss Finnigan’s time out of class. Mrs Kane and Mrs Hughes will be in class all day. There will no disruption for the children and daily routines will continue as normal. This will happen on a fortnightly basis.

Kind Regards,

Miss Grant and Miss Finnigan

PE Days

Good evening everyone, I hope you have had a fabulous weekend and are ready for our first full week back.

Just a little note to say our PE sessions will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If possible, please ensure your child is suitably dressed for being outside on these days. This will start from Monday (17th).

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Miss Grant and Miss Finnigan

Welcome Back!

Good afternoon,

Well done to all of our Primary 2’s – what a busy couple of days we had and we hope you enjoyed your first two days!

Here are a few reminders:

  • Please ensure all personal belongings are clearly labelled.
  • No book bags required in school at the moment. Please keep these at home until further notice.
  • In class the children should bring only water to drink (flavoured water is ok). Juice can be drunk at break and lunch. As our water coolers are now being used, your child will only require to bring one water bottle. Please be aware that any unnamed water bottles will have to be disposed of, if left in class, due to council guidelines.
  • We are a nut free school therefore we would  ask that you please be mindful of the snacks the children are bringing to school.
  • One snack is only required and we would appreciate if this could be kept in your child’s school bag rather than their lunch box.
  • Please remind your child in the morning if they are having a packed lunch or will require a school lunch. School lunches, at the moment, are a choice of a ham, cheese or tuna sandwich. We will update you if this changes. Please help your child to choose their option.
  • As we will be doing more outdoor learning, please dress your child appropriately for this. If it is a hot day, please apply sun cream to your child before coming to school. If your child is bringing sun cream with them, please ensure they can apply this independently.

Please remember to keep checking our blog as we will regularly be updating you with our class news. If you have any messages for your child’s teacher, please direct these to Bishopton Inquiries as letters can’t be sent from home.

Many thanks,

P2 Teachers
