Christmas jumper day

Hello all,

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. The children had a fantastic day.
Everyone looked brilliant with their jumpers, tops and accessories. There was lovely Christmas music playing in the dinner hall as the children were served their Christmas dinner. After lunch the children enjoyed a Christmas photo shoot and then a fashion parade.
The classroom was filled with smiling faces and lots of laughter, it was a terrific way to end the day.

Book week and Children in Need

Happy Friday!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. A few reminders for the upcoming week.

  • There is a sponsored walk throughout Bishopton and Dargavel – more information is on the newsletter which was given out.
  • We have a Pudsey raffle, children can buy tickets throughout the week (suggested donation of 50p).
  • A creative colouring competition will be running (suggested donation of 20p).
  • Tuesday 16th is pyjama day, children can wear Pudsey jimjams or their own super comfy ones!
  • We would love to have a parent read to us via a google meet. If you are available, please let me know.
  • Friday 17th is Get your Strictly Sparkly Glam on (suggested donation of £1), I can’t wait to see all the sparkles the children will wear, I might wear something dazzling too!
  • The Book Trust Bags are being given out this week. We would love to see you wearing something relating to Pudsey, or in your cosy jimjams reading one of the books. I look forward to seeing the photos of you reading.

P.E.- the children are enjoying going to the Scout Hall on Monday. I have a helper this week – thank you to the parent! Could I please remind parents that children need a change of shoes for the Scout Hall.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Scout hall P.E.

Good evening parents,

As we are using the Scout Hall as part of our PE lessons this term we will need some help walking to and from the hall.

Our P.E. slot is between 2pm and 3pm every Monday.  We require 1 helper to walk us. You do not need to stay for the duration. The EV5 form will cover the pupils for this trip. If you are able to help us this Monday, please let me know in the morning.

We will be leaving via the middle playground and walking down the ashy path at 1:50pm.
A quick reminder – children need to change their shoes when they arrive at the Scout Hall. Please ensure your child comes to school with a change of shoes and a plastic bag.

Thank you for your continued support.

Maths Week 28th September

Hello, Primary 2,

It’s Maths Week in Bishopton! We will be looking at linking maths to all aspects of our learning. The teachers have lots of fun things planned and organised for you!
As you may know, a Bishopton Primary tradition during Maths Week is to visit the local co-op. This links to numeracy and maths because we are using our counting skills and knowledge of money. The P2 teachers would like to say thank you to all those parents and guardians who volunteered to help walk us along to the co-op.
Please remember to bring £1 to spend in the shops. Your class will be visiting the Co-op on

P2E – Tuesday 28th September 9:00 am
P2K –  Thursday 30th September 11:45 am
P2B – Thursday 30th September 11:45 am

Please keep an eye out on your class TEAMS page, as there will be lots of photos of the fun maths activities posted throughout the week.

Thank you
The Primary 2 Teaching Team

School photos

Good morning.

We hope you all had a lovely weekend.

This week we have our school photos (Wednesday and Thursday). This is just a reminder to ensure your child/children come to school wearing their beautiful, smart school uniform and big smiles!

Thank you very much!

Christmas show

In class we have been very busy getting ready for our Christmas show. ⭐ The children have been learning all their songs, dances and our Christmas poem. 🎄Last week, we sent the children their lines for the poem to their emails. You can access this using your child’s glow login and then open the ‘Mail’ tab on the Launch Pad. It would be much appreciated if the children could also practise these lines at home too. We are all very excited to showcase our efforts. 😉 Thank you for your continued help and support. 🌼

National Book Trust Week

Hello everyone!
We hope you had a good weekend. In class this week we plan on doing lots of fun activities around books.
Monday – we plan on picking our favourite character from our class novel, Charlie and the chocolate factory.
Tuesday – hot seat, the children will discuss their favourite books and try to sell it to the children in the class.
Wednesday – we will listen to a story online and carry out some comprehension questions orally.
Thursday – Read and Munch. Due to the current restrictions, we can not have books from home. There are plenty of books in our class library, which after use will be quarantined for the children. The children can bring in a healthy snack from home.
If you would like to join in with book week there are some fantastic ideas on the national book trust website or check out the information on your local library’s website

Week Beginning 16th November

Hello everyone,

We hope you had an enjoyable weekend. 🙂

News
It is National Book Trust week. Keep an eye out on your child’s class teams page for any extra information about what may be happening in your child’s class.

Help
A plea for pine cones. If you and your children are out and about, going on walks or trips to the park, could you collect some pine cones. We need a good-sized pine cone for each child in Primary 2. This will be for an arts and craft activity near Christmas.

Homework
This week the new spelling rule is “ck”.  The spelling homework words are listed below:
Please copy the words below three times.

1. lick
2. suck
3. struck
4. cluck
5. than
6. first
7. long
8. down

Can you try to create a sentence which should include at least one of spelling rule words. Here is an example.

The hen can cluck.

If you would like to challenge yourself, why not think of some other words which follow the spelling rule or try to grow your words and think of root or shoot words. For example

Spelling rule words
“ck”
clock
knock

Roots and Shoots
cluck – clucking
lick – licks

The maths homework grid should be attached to the assignment. The chilli challenge questions should also be attached. Please remember to only complete one activity a week. The activities chosen should be different each week. This is to give the children some variety.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s teacher 🙂
