Sports Day – Wednesday 29th May 2019

We will be continuing with the format set from last year. The event will be split into different groups and take place within the School playground, the ROF fields, and the gym hall.

Primary 2 will be leaving from their classrooms at about 10.45am, for the ROF Field where the races will begin at 11am.

Each class would appreciate the assistance of 2 parent helpers to walk with the children to and from the ROF field. Please let your child’s class teacher know, via the homework diary or at the end of the day, if you are able to help.

Many thanks,

The Primary 2 Team

Homework wk beg. 13/05/19

I hope you have all been out and about enjoying this amazing weather!  I am with you all week as Miss Hunter is away with the P7s on their residential trip.  I am looking forward to a week full of learning and fun!

Maths homework was issued today, and should be handed in by Thursday please.  It is reinforcing our strategy of doubles.  Any problems don’t hesitate to ask.

Reading books were issued today.  Please ensure they are in school everyday, thank you.

Spelling will be issued on Wednesday as usual.

Parent’s Evening times were given out today with a form for you to complete with your child.  This will ensure key points for discussion are covered at our meetings next week.

A number of other letters about the new school phone number, parent pay scheme, sports day and the Book Fair were also given out today.

Many thanks,

Mrs Simpson

Fairtrade

Thank you for the delicious fairtrade baking which so many of you brought to school today.

Our visitors from Erskine Care Home and The Lunch Club enjoyed the treats very much.

We still have Chocolate Crispies left, and so on Monday you will be able to enjoy one at snack time.  Please let Miss Hunter know if you would rather your child not have one.

Many Thanks.

LOOSE PARTS REQUEST

We would like to begin using  Loose Parts to enhance our play and learning.  We are keen to develop  our supplies to give the children the opportunity to explore and investigate objects they may not normally play with.  We would be grateful if you could donate any of the following to your child’s class.  All we ask is that they are clean with no sharp edges.  You would be amazed at what the children can produce!

Loose Parts List:

shells, stones, wooden rings, glass beads, corks, bottle tops, buttons, bangles, pine cones, lids, tubs, wicker baskets, pipes, guttering, slices of wood, tubes, fabric, wallpaper, keys, padlocks, feathers, pots, pans, sieves, old cds, cooking utensils, pegs, ice cube trays, sponges, magnets, ribbon, netting………….

As you can see the list is pretty endless!

Loose parts play stimulates imagination and often acts as a catalyst for some of the most exciting play we have the privilege of being part of.

Thank you for your support.

Primary 2 Nativity and Party

Please could all Primary 2 children come to school in a shirt and tie with their skirt, pinafore or trousers, on the day of their nativity performance.

The Primary 2 party will be held in the afternoon of Wednesday 19th December. Children should come to school in school uniform, and can change into party clothes in the afternoon.

Many thanks,

The Primary 2 Team

More Junk Please!

As part of STEM week which is running throughout next week, from Monday 1st October, we will be engaging in a number of challenges.

We are looking for plastic containers, like strawberry, grape or tomato punnets, and cuboid sized tissue boxes, or similar.

Many many thanks for your ongoing support.  Please send in any of the required pieces from tomorrow.

Celebrating Modern Languages

I hope you all have a fabulous time over the holiday weekend.  Miss Hunter will look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday, 25th September.  I will see you all on Wednesday when we will be celebrating learning modern languages.  Remember this is a House Day, and you should come to school dressed in your house colour.

Bon week-end!

French Numbers

We have just begun to learn our numbers to 20 in French.  We will continue to work on this over the next few weeks, through a range of activities, including singing along to this cool tune!  You might like to practice at home a little too.

Amusez-vous!
