The children are using a code now to write their diaries to save some time in class. M stands for Maths, R is for reading and Sp is for spelling.
Maths – Homework for this week is Sumdog. Please try and go onto Sumdog each night this week. Also revise counting orally to 100.
Reading – New books have been issued to read and discuss this week.
Wednesday of this week is Modern Language Day and children can come to school in house colours.
New reading books have been issued for the week. Read at home and discuss the story with the children. Continue to work on word walls also.
Maths Rockets sheet. Look at the top of the rocket to find out what to add to each number in the rocket.
Solo talks have to be ready for next week. I look forward to hearing them all.
Maths and reading homework is due in on Thursday this week due to the Friday holiday.

As this is Maths Week the homework has more of a maths focus.
Tasks this week:
There will be no formal reading or spelling homework issued this week. Sh, Ch and Th will be revised in class.
The children should have a copy of this weeks homework glued into their diary. If it is not in this weeks page please check the front and back inside covers.
The children are continuing to write their homework in their diaries. They are improving with this each week. Well done everyone!
Reading – New books have ben issued. Children should read aloud at home and discuss the book using the 3 Sharings. Continue to also work through word walls.
Maths – The homework this week is focusing on missing numbers and counting. Please remember this is due in on Friday and is marked then by the teacher.
Spelling – A new sound will be issued on Wednesday.
Reading
Each child has been given a new school reading book to read aloud and discuss this week. These will be collected in on Friday.
Word Walls have also been issued this week. Children will have this word wall until they are confident reading all of the words.
Maths
This week we are looking at 2D shape. The homework sheet is all based around 2D shapes. The sheet should be completed and handed back by Friday.
Spelling
A new sound will be issued on Wednesday.
Please remind children to hand in any letters they may have in the mornings along with their diary.
The focus for homework this week is Reading for Enjoyment. The children have selected a book from the class library that they are interested in. This should be read with an adult and, then please discuss the story using the 3 Sharings – (1)Something you liked and disliked about the book (2) A question/puzzle about the book and (3) A connection you can make with the book.
Our PE days this year are Monday and Friday. If children have earrings in on these days, they have to be able to take them out themselves, or put tape over them.
Diaries have been given out today and children should hand them in each day to be checked by the teacher. This is when we will see any notes or letters.
