This week on Thursday we have our Scottish assembly.  Sorry I wrote that it was Friday on my last blog.  It is on Thursday of this week.  Our winning poet will be on stage performing along with all of our other class winners in the school.  Pupils can wear something tartan to school if they wish with their school uniform.

We are continuing our Katie Morag topic.  Last week we looked at creating maps and using Bebot robots to programme directions.  We had lots of fun.  We hope to have an open afternoon this term in March.  This will be an opportunity for you to come into class and see what your child has been learning this term.  Date and times to be confirmed as soon as possible for you to plan your schedules.

Primary 4 are having a bake sale on Thursday 1st February as part of their school topic.   Primary 2 are welcome to bring some pennies in and purchase a cake on this day.  Cakes will be 10p to 50p.

Have a great week.

P2R news

This week I heard all of the children reciting their Scottish poetry.  They were all wonderful.  Well done to our children who recited in class and visited other classes also.  We had 3 finalists with one overall class winner.  Our class winner will perform their Scottish poem in front of the school next Friday the 2nd of February.  Well done to everyone.  Pictures to follow.

We recovered our lost navy skirt this week.  We are now looking for a navy blue sweater.  This has a child’s name on it and would be grateful if everyone could have a look for this jumper at home.  Thank you in advance.

This week we have been practising our counting in 3s.  Here is the song we have been using:

P2R information

Scottish poems will be heard on Monday 22nd January.  As such, you may wish to take out their poem from their bookbags and keep it at home over the weekend for extra practise.  I can’t wait to hear them all.

Target booklets have started to go out this week.  All will be in bookbags by Monday home time for you to look at and discuss with your children.  It has been great to discuss these targets with the children and look at areas where they want to progress and challenge themselves.

News

Last week we started our new Katie Morag topic.  This week we will working together to create our wall display.  If anyone has any Katie Morag books at home, it would great if the children could bring them in to share with the class.  We will be sending home our Julia Donaldson books this week.  Thank you to all who let their children send these in for our Stickman topic.

In class we have been talking about targets and things we would like to achieve.  This week your child will come home with a target booklet and they will show you their short term targets for Maths, Language and Health and Wellbeing.  This will be discussed and created with your child in class.  Feel free to add a home target in the parent/guardian box at the bottom of the page.  These targets will be looked at every couple of weeks to check how they are getting on.  The target booklets will be kept in their bookbags.

Thanks as always for your support.
