Lochwinnoch Primary School has a parent council which all school parents/carers are automatically members of.
We have an active group of members who regularly attend meetings and participate in the Parent Council WhatsApp chat – more are always very welcome!
Our role is to support the school in its work with pupils by fundraising for additional items and treats; encourage parents to get involved in their children’s learning and education; and represent the views of parents; and foster a sense of community around the school.
We organise two school discos a year, at Halloween and Spring, and always try to do a Christmas and end-of-school year treat. In recent years this has been a mobile cinema, ice cream van visit and bouncy castle/inflatable assault course. We also give money every year for the P7’s celebrations.
All parents can volunteer at events or be part of the WhatsApp chat with no obligation to attend meetings (but attendance and input at meetings is always welcome!)
Our meetings are held every couple of months, at least once a term, with the AGM at the start of the school year where an update is given on the previous year and office bearers are elected.
At meetings, our headteacher Mrs Peden gives an update on school projects, learning, staff changes and events and activities; we chat about fundraising and raise any issues we have as well as any raised with us by parents. They are friendly, open meetings and a great way to find out more about school life, get a better understanding of your child’s education, and meet parents from other year groups.
We have four volunteer office bearers: chair, vice-chair, treasurer and secretary. In order to continue, we need to have a chair, secretary and treasurer.

Too Good To Go used-uniform
Together with the school, we have established a Too Good to Go uniform space. We have lots of branded polo shirts, jumpers and cardigans as well as skirts, shorts, trousers, pinafores and dresses of all sizes.
