Scottish Book Week 2020 – ‘The future won’t write itself’

‘Time travel through memories…’

As part of Scottish Book Week 2020, we have been listening to the author Adrian Edmondson on ‘Authors Live’ from the Scottish Book Trust. He was discussing his book, ‘Tilly and the Time Machine’. The story explores memory as a way to travel back in time.

We had to think of happy memories that we treasure, why and what is special about them.  We then drew pictures of our memories and created a ‘Memory’ display.  Lorna wrote a lovely poem that encapsulates our memories. We hope you enjoy looking at our memories.

Blitz Art

We have been learning about the ‘The Blitz’ during World War II.

The Blitz was a German bombing campaign against the United Kingdom during the Second World War between 1940 and 1941. The term was first used by the British press and is the German word for ‘lightning’.

We have been learning about the devastating effects The Blitz had on the town of Clydebank on the 13th and 14th March 1941.

The Blitz was part of Hitler’s attempt to invade Britain, so called ‘Operation Sea Lion’.

We hope you like our ‘Blitz Art’ pictures that represent the horror of the bombing campaign.

Wind Power Challenge

Over the past month we have been learning about the Sustainable Development Goals.  The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

We have been learning about the importance of sustainable forms of energy.  Our focus has centred on wind power.

We have been working in teams to design and make a model wind turbine that could generate power.

We hope you enjoy looking at our various designs.
