Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies (PAThS)

At Dargavel ELCC, we pride ourselves on our whole-school PAThS approach, in which we were awarded “Model Schools Award” in 2025. As a team, we recognise the importance of health and well-being and are always looking at how we can support our children, families and staff. The PAThS programme for nurseries is designed to facilitate the development of self-control, emotional awareness and inter-personal problem solving skills. PAThS is taught through simple language to ensure that it is age and stage appropriate for the children, we share this language with those at home and encourage that the same words are used to provide consistent messages to the children.
During your child’s time at nursery, they will learn about feelings, sharing and caring, friendships and regulation strategies through PAThS. Some of our catchment schools also continue the provision of the PAThS programme into primary.
All staff are PAThS trained however our PAThS ambassadors are Hannah and Caroline who are available if you wish to find out more about the programme.
