Fairtrade Rice Challenge

Thank you to everyone who bought 1kg of rice from P4 Fairtraders. We have sold all 90kg which means a child can go to High School for a year in Malawi. Enough money has been made by the farmer to pay the school fees.

Fairtrade Art Competition

Every class took part in this year’s competition which was to draw and colour a picture which included the Fairtrade logo. Every class had one winner and the overall winners were Dylan P4a, Jennifer P6a and Sofia P5b. The prizes were Fairtrade chocolate and key rings. The judges were the P4 Fairtrade committee. All the entries were very good and the best are now on display in school.

Fairtrade Art Competition 2018

This year’s school competition is to draw a picture which includes the Fairtrade logo, for example as the eye of an animal or in the fabric of a dress. All pupils will have time in class to make an entry. There is a prize for each class. The closing date is 28 February . We are looking forward to seeing lots of imaginative ideas.

Wizard of Oz

Storytime Swap

It was all change on Friday when teachers swapped classes to read a story as part of Book Week Scotland. Some of our Primary 1-3 pupils also dressed up as book characters (and so did some of the teachers). Great fun all round!

We have been reading chapter 16 of our class novel Charlotte’s Web.

We have also enjoyed drawing illustrations in the style of Nick Sharratt who works with Jacqueline Wilson on the Tracy Beaker.

We had a real treat at assembly this week when Ellie McWilliams from P5a sang in front of the whole school . Ellie has a beautiful voice and although we can’t say too much here we think Ellie has great promise – watch this space!

Busy, busy in P5a!

Primary 5a had a busy start to the week with assembly followed by hockey in PE. Our photos show our cooperative spelling activities where we had to work together to make words using letters cut from newspapers and also some excellent and very accurate addition work by James!

Homework Reading – everyone should be reading their ERIC book for 15/20 minutes each day. Numeracy – a worksheet has been given out to be completed at home. Spelling – pupils should write each word twice more in their jotters, write two (quality!) sentences and put their words into alphabetical order. Please remind your child to “Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check” to help them to remember each word rather than just copying them.
