If you have any spare time, or just want a little more practice, please access the link below.  Please remember to set realistic times and make sure you choose  a range of calculations- not just the easy ones! Challenge yourself with the areas you need to work on the most. This is not homework however practice does make perfect!

P5S – 3D Shape Hunt

Image result for 3d shapes

Yesterday we were looking at 3D shapes and their properties. We discussed where we could find 3D shapes in our daily lives and you came up with some excellent examples.

You were sent out and about in school armed with the iPads to find as many 3D shapes as you could. Once you did, you were to take a photograph of them to bring back to class. As we found out, there were lots and lots. Tell someone at home some of the 3D shapes you found. Can you remember their properties?

Using the photographs, and your knowledge of their properties, you were to show what you had learned using the Explain Everything app on the iPads.  As we ran out of time, we will continue with this next week.

Here are a few photographs of some of you out and about the school.

Bookbug Day

Thank you to all our buddies and their teachers for making Bookbug Day fun.  We visited Bishopton Library to collect our Bookbug books.  Back in school, our buddies helped us make chairs for our bears (and giraffes), we played hare and tortoise games and drew rhyming pictures. They helped us log on to Teach your monster to read so we can practise our sounds and help with our reading.

You can hear about the books we received and lots of others on the Scottish Book Trust website.

Thank you from Primary 1.

Bookbug Day

We hope you all enjoyed Bookbug Day.  As well as our visits to Bishopton Library to get our Bookbug books, we did various activities with our buddies.  We made a chair for our bear or giraffe, played a hare and tortoise race game and made up animal rhymes.

You can read more about our books and their authors on the Scottish Book Trust website.

Thank you to our helpers. Without you, we would be unable to make these visits to the library.

Today we logged onto the  Teach your monster to read website.  Once we made our monster we were able to play lots of games with our sounds.  On Monday your child will bring home their homework diary with their login details for this website (or app) and you can play the games at home.

We have gone over the types of questions you should be coming up with this week: evaluative. These questions are your thoughts and opinions on what you have read, eg. Why do you think Sonia’s dad did not want to be entered into the cake competition?  You should use what you have read to justify your answer, eg. use evidence from the text to make judgements on what you have read.

Please come up with 5 questions which can be shared with your group members during our next session. You must also have detailed answers for each of your questions. Please remember your answers should be written in full sentences.

You should also completed a detailed illustration of an interesting part of the story so far. A short, written explanation should also be included. This task should be completed in your Book Detectives jotter. This task should be completed and returned to school for Thursday 24th November.

Tomorrow : Bookbug Day with Buddies

Really excited about our Bookbug Day with our buddies tomorrow!  We will do ‘Read and Munch’ first thing in the morning with our buddies.  Thought it would be a great idea to read our library books with our buddies before returning them on our visit at 11.15.

Also, a wee reminder to bring in favourite teddy and more junk if you have it for our Bear on a Chair activity that we will be doing in the afternoon.

Can’t wait…..one sleep to go!
