Good morning everyone. I hope this finds you safe and well.
I have to say that I have enjoyed popping in and out of your class meetings, even though I can’t see you all! It’s great to catch up and hear your news. Remember to watch your class posts this afternoon for the link to then talent show finalists. You’re in for a real treat. What a talented bunch you are!
Have a good day and remember to have plenty of breaks and take some time for yourself.
Good morning all. I hope you had a lovely weekend. It looks like the weather is going to be kind to us this week. We have our first ever virtual sports day on Wednesday. It will be exciting to see which house is victorious.
Today is your last chance to send your talent show audition video to Mrs McDowall (karen.mcdowall@renfrewshire.school).
All of your teachers are looking forward to hearing from you so remember to check in and do what you can with the work that they set. We understand that you may not be able to always get online or do all the tasks. All we ask is that you do your best when you can.
A reminder that all talent show audition videos should be sent to me by Tuesday 26th May. Thank you!
Calling all dancers , singers , magicians, musicians, comedians , gymnasts or pretty much anyone who has a talent who would like the chance to show it off! This year we will have to organise our talent show a little bit differently because we are all at home, however we still need to let your talent shine!
So here are the rules:
Film an audition video of your talent
You can be on your own, with a family member or if you can organise it, with friends from other families (still in Bishopton Primary)
The music should be appropriate (use the clean/radio edit)
You should be appropriately dressed (not too much flesh showing, leggings under/over leotards)
Your video should be no longer than 3 minutes (approximately)
You should email the video to Miss McDowall at gw07mcdowallkaren2@glow.sch.uk for the auditions to see if you will be put through to the final show.
The final will be a compilation of all of the talent made into one video and uploaded onto YouTube where only those with the link can view it.
You must have your audition videos to Miss McDowall by Tuesday 26th May
We are looking forward to seeing all of the talent you have to offer!
As it is World Book Day on Thursday 5th March, there will be a change to the lunch menu and the theme is ‘Alive in Wonderland’s Mad Hatters Tea Party’. Please check your child knows what they would like to order on this day.

Thank you to all of the parents/carers who have volunteered to come in to talk to the pupils about their job and their skills. Every year, on the 22nd of February, the Girl Guides and Scouts celebrate World Thinking Day. Bishopton Primary School are once again delighted to support this. Any pupil who is a member of one of these organisations is welcome to wear their appropriate uniform on Friday 21st February.
A reminder about our Spelling Information Evening 6.30-7.30pm on Tuesday 18th February.
As you know, we changed our spelling programme at the start of the session and are now well underway with positive results. We would like to invite you to an information evening to further share how the programme works and what the children are experiencing in class. This will be a good opportunity for you to find out how to reinforce the strategies used in school at home.
If you are able to make the information evening, please complete the slip in your child’s bag (oldest child only).
As part of our Eco School Action Plan the Global Citizenship group held a Guess the Teddy’s Birthday event to raise money to support the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
This was very successful and raised £200 for the charity. Renfrewshire Council very generously matched this amount giving us a grand total of £400!!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part in making this event such a success.
Our lucky winner who guessed the correct birthday was……..
Zoe (P3C) – congratulations, we hope you love your husky.
Primary 1 are looking for a variety of resources to enhance their learning through play. After asking the children for their thoughts on what they would like to have more of in our classes and open area, they came up with the following ideas:
action figures – Power Rangers, Pokemon, etc.
animals – dinosaurs, unicorns, etc.
dolls with accessories
home corner items
garage and cars
lego
If you are able to help it would be much appreciated. Maybe you are thinking about having a wee clear-out before Christmas. If so, please keep us in mind. Any small items can be sent in with your child/children. Larger items may be handed into the office.
Please click the link below to see the new lunch menu which starts next session. Please read it carefully as there are are only two options per day and the soup and desserts are on alternate days. Thank you.
Well done to all pupils who auditioned for the talent show. We had over 150 talented pupils who bravely showed their talent to judges over 8 lunchtime sessions. As usual the quality of talent on show was extremely high, however we can only put a certain amount forward.
Congratulations to those of you who got through to the Talent Shows on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June. You should have received a note on Friday telling you if you made it. Please check with your group memebers if you are unsure.
Please bring in your costume and/or props on Monday. If your act requires music, please bring the clean version of the song in a CD or USB to Miss McDowall on Monday or Tuesday.Keep practising!

Our Litter & Waste Eco Group have had a very busy time recently. They have worked very hard and we are very proud of their Anti Litter Policy (click to view) achievements. We launched our Anti-litter Policy at last weeks Assembly and it will be displayed in every classroom and at points around the school.
As you know we are also recycling batteries through the Big Battery Hunt. We have had an amazing reaction already with two buckets already full. Once again, well done the Litter & Waste Group.
The busy Litter & Waste group also took part in a Litter Pick around the school. We collected 5 bags of rubbish from outside the playground! Well done to Nathan, Blair, Jack, Ryan, Heather, Freya, Mhairi and Amira for all their hard work and a big thank you to Mr Hutchison and Mrs Grant for their help.

Calling all P6 and P7 falcons. Can you please try and bring in an empty cereal box this week for House Art day on Thursday. This can be given to Mrs Fulton or Mr McAvoy. Thank you. Looking forward to Art day on Thursday.

A Navy Nike Padded jacket age 10 has gone missing from P5. Could everyone please have a look at home in case one of the children has taken this home by accident. Thank you.
Just a reminder that Wednesday 26th September will be a non-uniform day as we will be celebrating European Day of Languages 2018.
Pupils are asked to wear house colours – Eagles- yellow, Hawk-green, Falcons-blue and Ospreys-red.
Children will be involved in a variety of activities with the rest of their house to celebrate all things French and to explore why it is useful to know more than one language.
We look forward to hearing from some specially invited speakers on their experiences with languages.
If you are interested in helping your child with their Modern Foreign language learning at home, you can follow this link – ideas for parents and families.
A reminder to return the forms that were sent out in a white envelope last week by tomorrow (28th August) if you haven’t already done so. Also, a few of you are still to return the blue forms asking about activities and clubs that your children are involved in or you would like to see the school providing.
