Bishopton Week- Saturday Parade

Today we have drawn names out of the hat for all the children who will be able to ride on the school float this Saturday for the Bishopton Week parade.

The school office will contact you if your child’s name has been drawn. We will keep all the other children’s names in reserve just in case someone is unable to attend the parade at short notice.

Many thanks to those parents who offered to decorate the float. Due to parking issues, the trailer will require to be decorated outside the school from 10am on Saturday morning. Any adult help for decorating the float on Saturday morning would still be most appreciated.

The parade will leave the school at 12 midday if you wish to accompany us on our journey.

Many thanks to everyone that has offered to help us this year.

Let’s hope for good weather!

REN10 Parent Drop-in Service

The Ren10 Parent Drop-in service is an opportunity for parents/carers to discuss their concerns.

There is no need to make an appointment.

The aim is to reduce your distress and to help you to formulate a plan to assist you. This may involve making you aware of other services within the area.

The service is available to parents or carers of young people in education.

Health and Wellbeing Census 2021/22

Over the next few months, our local authority is planning to ask all pupils in P5 to S6 to take part in a survey about their health and wellbeing. The findings will help our local authority to understand the needs, strengths and possible concerns of children and young people, which will help plan future improvements to local services.

Please look out for a letter which you should shortly be receiving that will provide you with more detailed information about the Census, and provides you with the opportunity to let us know if you don’t wish your child to take part.

Missing Something?

The lost property from all of our classrooms will be made available to view in our middle playground on Thursday & Friday from 2.45 pm this week (weather permitting).

Our class teachers make every effort to return any missing items to pupils but we kindly ask that parents and carers ensure that all items of school clothing, footwear and lunchboxes are labelled.

Infant Registration

Reminder: register your child for Primary 1 before Friday 5th November.

If your child has their 5th birthday between 1 March 2022 and 28 February 2023, you should register them for school this week – and we’re asking you to do this online.

Go to https://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/article/11957/Apply-for-a-place-at-school

You’ll need to have a few things ready to upload:

  1. a copy of your child’s full birth certificate
  2. proof of address – Council Tax and Child Benefit Statement (or Driving Licence, utility/bank statement showing last 3 months transactions)

If you can’t register online, please phone your local catchment school to arrange an appointment. This is really important – please do not turn up at school without an appointment.

If you currently have a child attending Bishopton Primary School but live within the Dargavel Primary catchment please enrol your child for Dargavel Primary but in the comments section of the form please put that you wish them to attend Bishopton Primary.

Good to Grow from Morrisons

At Bishopton Primary School we understand that the more kids know about how food is grown and made, the better they’ll eat, now and in the future.

It’s Good to Grow is a token collection scheme at Morrisons Supermarkets that allows schools to collect for free gardening equipment to get kids outdoors and growing. Between 6th September and 24th, October 2021 for every £10 spent in-store or online at Morrisons customers will automatically receive one Grow Token to donate to your chosen school.

Parents, grandparents & carers will need to be a MyMorrisons customer to take part so make sure you download the app and select Bishopton Primary School to donate your Grow Tokens to.

Finally, don’t forget to scan your app or MyMorrisons card at the checkout every time you shop to receive your Grow Tokens. Once you’ve selected the school, you’ll be able to donate your Grow Tokens to us.

From 24th October, the school will be able to redeem the Grow Tokens we’ve collected against a range of growing and gardening equipment for the school.

School Photographs – Individual & Siblings

A photographer is coming to school on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th September. It is a parental preference as to whether their child is photographed wearing our formal ‘shirt and tie’ uniform or our less formal  ‘polo-shirt’ uniform.

Your child will always be allowed to participate in  P.E. wearing either uniform.

All children will be photographed with no obligation to purchase.

Last day of term arrangements

Following current COVID 19 guidance for schools closing at 1 pm on Friday 25th June 2021.

Primary 1 pupils can be collected from 12.45 pm with siblings also collected.

All other P2 – P7 pupils will be dismissed from the school following all usual protocols at 1 pm.

Pupils who travel by school bus will be supervised until the bus arrives to collect them (approx. 1.20 pm).

P1 -3 pupils and those in P4-7 that have free meal entitlement will have a sandwich lunch on this day.

Unfortunately, due to current guidance, we will be unable to have our annual Bishopton end of term bell ringing ceremony. Instead, teachers will share a pre-recorded film of the bell ringing ceremony with our current oldest and youngest pupils ringing the bell for us.

As Bishopton Primary will be sharing our campus with Dargavel Primary for the first term we will be holding on to our special ‘Bishopton School Song’ video for special release in October 2021.

This has been a challenging year for everyone and we thank you for your patience and understanding. We are all hoping for more settled times ahead.

Have a lovely Summer!

Please refer to the previous blog post with information about the arrangements for school returning on 16th August 2021.

Coping During COVID Flyer

Wednesday 20th January

Good morning everyone,

Happy Wednesday!

Well done to everyone for all your hard work in the classrooms. I know just how proud the teachers are with you all. It’s great to have the majority of issues now fixed in MS TEAMs and the assignments section working properly again, as we may be online a bit longer to keep everyone safe.

Remember it’s really important for you to ‘check-in’ with your online class teacher before 9.45 am so that we know you are all safe and well.

Remember do what you can and try to get outside when the weather allows.

Keep safe,

Mr Collins
