Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are enjoying your weekend after the very busy and creative week we’ve had. I hope you are looking forward to another busy and fun week. Please keep reading for your homework and reminders.
Spelling: Please complete list a for ar or ed in your spelling homework jotter for Thursday. Please continue to write out your spelling words 3 times using SaCaWaC in the same way as we do in class. You should then write a sentence for each of your first 6 spelling words concentrating on using interesting VCOP – vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation. I have explained what the highlighting in your jotters means, please share this with someone at home.
Reading: We are continuing with our novel study – Danny the Champion of the World. As discussed in class there is no formal written homework to be completed for this. However, please remember if you do not complete the reading you will be unable to take part in the class lesson. Please read chapters 7 and 8 for Wednesday 1st March.
If you find there are words that you don’t understand please take a note of them in your Book Detectives jotter (remembering the page number) and, if possible, use a dictionary to find out their meaning . We will start our lesson by discussing them in class.
Personal Reading Challenge: As discussed in class this challenge will be ongoing for the whole of this term. You have all set yourself a personal target based on the number of books you read last term and your aim is now to reach that target or beat it! I have been really pleased to see so many of you recording your books in your reading passports. Remember it is the quality of the books you read that is important. Please choose carefully to ensure the books you are reading are at the correct level for you – not too easy or too hard. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC time.
Maths: This week I have posted another set of worded problems on your maths homework blog. Please complete these in your maths homework jotter. As always, please read each question carefully. You should ensure you are showing workings AND giving a full sentence answer. This homework is due for Thursday. All jotters should now be covered.
A high standard of work is being produced from most of you. Well done! Keep it up!
Both group 1 and group 2 can find their maths homework here:
Please remember to access the Multiplication and Division Trainer for extra practice. You can access it using the links below. We are going for green with our Table Challenge!

Topic: As part of our mini Scotland topic you all chose a Scottish poem to learn. Please continue to rehearse them as you will be presenting them to your classmates and also another stage within the school on Tuesday. We will then have a class winner who will represent our class at our annual Burns’ Assembly on Friday 27th January.
Please click here to see the areas you will be judged on.
Here are your reminders for this week:
- P.E. is on Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure you have a P.E. kit in school. Please remember to have a bottle of water with you for both sessions.
- If you haven’t already done so, please remember to cover all your homework jotters.
- If possible, please remember to bring in an old shirt or tee-shirt which is big enough to cover your uniform during any art activities. Also any old newspapers would be great for covering your desks.
- As we will be preparing some Scottish food on Monday, please bring an apron or clean tee-shirt to cover your uniform and help keep it clean.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
See you tomorrow.
