Good morning everyone, I hope you are enjoying your weekend. This week is a short week for you due to the mid term break. Please continue reading for your homework and reminders.
Spelling: Please complete lists y for ie or er in your spelling homework jotter for Thursday. Please continue to write out your spelling words 3 times using SaCaWaC in the same way as we do in class. You should then write a sentence for each of your first 6 spelling words. We are again concentrating on the V of VCOP – vocabulary this week. You should be trying to have at least one wow word in each sentence (many of you should be aiming for more). I will again be focusing on assessing your fabulous vocabulary.
Reading: We are continuing with our novel study – Danny the Champion of the World. Please remember if you do not complete the reading you will be unable to take part in the class lesson. Please read chapters 11 and 12 for Wednesday 15th February.
If there are words that you don’t understand please take a note of them in your Book Detectives jotter (remembering the page number) and, if possible, use a dictionary to find out their meaning . We will start our lesson by discussing them in class.
Personal Reading Challenge: Your challenge will be ongoing for the whole of this term (8 weeks left!). I have been really pleased to see so many of you recording your books in your reading passports, keep it up!! Please choose your books carefully to ensure they are at the correct level for you – not too easy or too hard. Remember you can bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC time.
Listening & Talking: This term you have a solo presentation to complete. You have 3 weeks to plan, organise and prepare your presentation as you will be presenting in class on Tuesday 28th February. Please click here to see the task sheet with all of the details required. If you require a paper copy of the task sheet, please ask.
Maths: There is no formal written homework this wee, however, we will be starting our fraction topic soon and it is very important that you know all your tables as this will make working with fractions much easier. Please remember to access the Multiplication and Division Trainers for extra practice.

Here are your reminders for this week:
- P.E. will be on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Please ensure you have a P.E. kit in school. Please also remember to have a bottle of water with you as you will be working hard.
- Our mid-term break begins this weekend. You will finish on Thursday and return to school on Wednesday 15th.
- For those of you who haven’t already done so, please cover all your homework jotters. This helps to keep your jotters in good condition.
- Please remember to bring in an old shirt or tee-shirt which is big enough to cover your uniform during our art activities (we will be working on some artwork this week). This can be left in school until the end of term/session if you wish. Also any old newspapers would be great for covering your desk.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. See you all tomorrow.
Mrs. Hughes.
