‘Destiny’ the lion cub has now gone to “The Pride of Paisley” project with a full-on makeover from the Johnstone High School Art Department. The lion project will form part of the Summer Fun Campaign, the highlight of which will be 25 life-size lion sculptures, painted by local artists and schools.

The lions will be located around Paisley’s heritage trail for 10 weeks during summer. At the end of the event the schools can have their mini lions returned and the artists’ life size lions will be auctioned off where all monies raised will go to the Accord Hospice and St Vincent Hospice.

Paisley Museum’s very own “Buddy the Lion” has been the inspiration for this project. There will be, at some point, a trail map published where all the lions and mini lions can be found.  A big well done to 2p10 and the designer/painters: Sophie Pearce, Megan McCrory, Lydia McReavy, Millie Spence, Sam London, Aiden McHendry and Ruairi McKiernan.

Ardentinny 2016 Update and kit list.

Bag 2 SchoolIf you have any old clothes, shoes, hats, bags, handbags etc.  cluttering up your wardrobes at home then why not bag them up in any old bin bag and get them into the school on Monday or Tuesday for collection?

A list of items that can be submitted can be found at the following web page – Bag 2 School.

Bags can be deposited by pupil or parent at the school reception and we’ll make sure that they make their way down to the Computing and Business Education Department for uplift.

Those old kipper ties are not coming back into fashion any time soon – let them be gone!

Johnstone Pupils Exhibit a Flair for the Arts

Well it’s been quite the day in the Johnstone High Art Department. Not content with having eight pupils chosen to have their worked exhibited at the Paisley Art Institute’s Schools’ Exhibition – which begins on Saturday, 21st May and runs through to Sunday, August 21st –  the school have also scooped two of the top awards of the competition.

Lauren Alexander of S3 (pictured below with Mr Sheppard, Acting Principal Teacher of Art, and Mrs McAlinden, Lauren’s class teacher), has been named as the outright winner in the S1-S3 category, winning a £200 prize to be split between herself and the school.

The good news does not end there. The following Johnstone High pupils past and present have also been chosen to have their work exhibited:
