Refugee Week 2020 is a celebration of the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees. Founded in 1998 and held every year around World Refugee Day on the 20 June.
This website has various ideas to contribute to and take part in celebrations this week. The Children and Young People’s Section has some good ideas for schools, teachers and pupils.
On the National Literacy Trust website you will find some translated leaflets to support multilingual families with their young child’s development at home with some suggestions on chatting together, singing songs and sharing books in their home language.
There are other useful resources can be found on this website too such as Family Zone with ideas from Birth to age 12; Zone in with specific ideas for students aged over 12; Grammar, Spelling and reading support and many other literacy related ideas for pupils parents and teachers.
Education Scotland’s Laura Mcintosh has collated some sites to support ESOL learners with English. You can access each site from this link or create your own account and save it to access any time.
Mantra Lingua have released their dual language reading ebooks for free to support Parents and pupils with home learning. 37 languages available and some lovely books suitable for lots of different ages. Just sign up on the website link above.

Some support pupils learning at different levels of English and some support for parents/guardians as well as support for teachers with EAL learners in their classes. Lots of resources to help teachers with learning and teaching ideas.

Attached are a variety of corona virus support materials – books, leaflets, workbooks – for young people of all ages and their parents/guardians to look at if they are feeling anxious about the current situation. Hopefully you can find some that will help understand how the virus is affecting people’s lives and how to manage their feelings around this.
