Health Week

      3rd June 2019 – 7th June 2019

We had a great time taking part in a variety of ‘Health and Wellbeing’ themed activities this week. Some of our pupils have put together an extra Newsletter to share with you some of the learning which took place over the course of our Health celebration week.

Day 1 –

On Monday we had our Sports Day. We had an egg and spoon race, running race, hula hoop race and sack race. We also had a three legged race where you could race with a Parent or one of your friends. We had lots of fun and fell over lots of times! We had an ice lolly as a treat at the end.

Day 2 –

On Tuesday we took part in a Road Safety Quiz led by our Health & Wellbeing Committee who have focused on promoting Road Safety this year. We were asked lots of questions. We got them all right apart from the last one. In the afternoon we took part in a Litter Pick with children from Doodlebugs Nursery. We found lots of rubbish in our local area. We counted up which types of litter were collected and found that most litter was made from plastic.

Day 3 –

On Wednesday we took part in an Internet Safety lesson. We watched how the internet can be unsafe some times. In the afternoon we learned how to do CPR to help save someone’s life. We watched a video which told us how important it is to stay fire aware in our homes.

Day 4-

On Thursday we  took part in a relaxation lesson. We imagined we were on the beach, lying on the sand in the hot sun and felt our bodies sinking comfortably into the sand. We used the ‘shrink it, shrink it, flick it’ technique to keep our minds blank. In the afternoon we got into groups. One groups looked at the ‘eat well’ plate and the other group made traffic light sandwiches and fruit salad. Then we swapped over. We had lots of fun and the fruit salad was really nice.

Day 5 –

On Friday we went to the King’s Theatre in Glasgow to see Horrible Histories. Everyone was screaming as we had to put on 3D glasses and it felt as if things were flying out at us. They pretended to mummify a body, it was really funny!
