P2 & P3 were reading old poems, rhymes and songs that had been given a new setting today. They then came up with their own version of ‘She’ll be coming round the mountain’ with a weather theme.

Another Braw Week
We have all been so busy, this afternoon we reflected on our week and all the learning that had happened.
Some of us learned a new sound ‘Z’ it makes a zzzzzzz sound and is at the start of words like zip, zebra and zoo. Others have learned some new scots words like ‘feart’ ‘fankle’ and our favourite one ‘bahookie’. Telling the time was another skill learned this week with some of us now able to use a digital clock and others can do o’clock and quarter past the hour. P2 & P3 have figured out that multi[plication is just making groups and dividing is sharing equally they are looking forward to doing more of this type of work.
Our daily mile has been very soggy recently we are walking rather than running as wee don’t want to land on our bahookies!
Today we really enjoyed our daily mile because it was lovely and sunny and we did a wee bit of skating on the ice too!
The bairns are havin a braw time learnin Scots
We listened to a braw story in Scots all about a boy cried Neil and his bunnet, this inspired us to learn some scots words and we are going to be writing some poems too! To get started we worked together in groups to come up with alternative verses to the great rhyme Katie Bardie.
Have a watch.

Harvest at Grandtully
Last school year, before the summer holidays we planted tiny seeds in the ground. We gave them some water and pulled out all the weeds so they would get more sunlight. When we came back to school in August all the seeds had grown. This week we have been harvesting our food.
P1 found potatoes
We used our sounds to call them different names ‘t’ for tatties, ‘p’ for potatoes ‘s’ for spuds
We found some very, very tiny carrots
We are going to put them in our soup for our harvest showcase.
We have two apple trees, we had to pull down the branches and stand on our tip toes to pick the apples. We dried them and wrapped them in newspaper to keep them nice and fresh.
P1 used their drawing skills to tell the story of how they picked the apples.

SUMDOG
Sumdog is a big favourite here at Grandtully, great for getting our pupils thinking about their mental maths. Each pupil has a log in and can log in from school or home. Look out for Mrs Gibson’s challenges!
