In Blairgowrie High School we have 3 Houses: Glenisla, Stormont and Tay. Every pupil is assigned to a House. Pupils remain under the pastoral care of the same ‘house team’ for their school career.
For almost all pupils, the Pastoral Support (Guidance) teacher will be designated as the ‘named person’. The named person is the first point of contact for child, parent, professionals and members of the community.
The relationship between the named person and pupil is developed during their weekly contact in timetabled Social Education classes. In this time pupils:
- benefit from a Personal and Social Education programme
- are offered a weekly opportunity for informal support when required
- receive academic support at key points in year and support with option choice
- receive targeted support, when individuals need it
Pupils are also supported by their House Tutor on a daily basis in House Tutor Groups and in the earlier identification of concerns which will, when appropriate, be passed to Pastoral Support (Guidance) teacher.
