A number of local charities sent representatives to the school on Wednesday, 21st August 2013, to meet S3 pupils who are participating in the Youth & Philanthropy Initiative.
The purpose of the gathering was to allow groups of pupils to gain as much information as possible about the charities. This information will help the pupils choose a subject for a presentation promoting a particular charity.
Armed with a list of pre-determined questions, each class spent twenty minutes with the representatives, and gathered as much useful information as they could.Â
The charities’ representatives said they were very impressed with the enthusiasm and interest shown by the majority of the pupils, and all indicated that they would be happy to participate in similar events in the future.
Pupils also indicated that they were impressed by the variety of work done by local charities. Everyone was grateful that the charities had made time to come to the school, and all agreed that the information they had received would be useful to them in creating their presentations.
