Orkney Science Festival – The House Doctors

Autumn Term 2026
We have all settled back into school. Our main topic this term is “Made in Orkney” and we hope to be going on some visits in conjunction with this. Our Science topic is “materials” and the Sunshine class in particular are enjoying making all sorts of things.2025-26 Some Highlights So Far
As we are moving swiftly towards the end of the term, and the fact this blog hadn’t been updated in a while, here are a few highlights from a busy session 2025-26. Activities in the Library Miniature Painting Minitiature painting on Mondays saw a small influx of new S1 pupils, after it had had a hiatus. The pupils attend regularly and even paint on other days. This year we also resurrected the miniature painting competition the small group putting in several entries each. Active Shapinsay Week took part in February. Sports Committee and Mrs Bews worked to arrange a whole week of different activities; not just for school but for the wider community too. There were lots of things on offer, including cycling, walking, football, basketball, rugby, running, dancing, kickboxing, yoga, rollerblading and even pirates!
