We have been focusing on one of our core skills β€˜working with others’. Today we paired up with P2/3 and P3 for reading buddies, helping to read tricky words and then practised spelling some words outside with chalk.

For maths, we were practising our tables, focusing on the 6 x table creating a maths game with chalk outside. We worked together to talk through our ideas and then tried each other’s games and have feedback.

🐝 & πŸ–Ό 🎨

Mr McMullan showed us how to extract honey made by Woodlands Bees 🐝. We all got to see each stage and see it mixing.

in Health, we have been discussing our emotions. We have tried to categorise them in to positive, negative and in between. We then expressed how we feel through pattern and colour creating an abstract painting. We then brainstormed and discussed ideas in small groups and collated these as a class of what options we have or could have during class time if we were to feel any of the emotions we categorised as negative to help us return to a calmer state.

Homework 🌟

P6/7 have made fantastic effort with all of their facts about me homework! All staff and pupils have been so proud of all the hard work and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the pupils more and their fantastic work can be seen on all the Good Work Walls around the school! 🌟

Literacy πŸ“š & class charter πŸ‘πŸ‘¬

We have started our group novels and have been working extremely hard on fluency and reading with expression. We have been summarising, describing characters, answering questions by inferring what the author might be meaning and predicting what could happen next.

As a class, we have voted on the theme for our charter to display the chosen rights which we feel are most important and relevant within school and the classroom. We then all designed how to display the rights and voted which ideas we could include on our wall. We then took the responsibility of a section and worked together to create our part, working with others to ensure sizing of each part would link together.

P6/7 have been practising their tables daily playing different games such as multiplication relay, bingo, daily 10, sum dog challenges and using topmarks β€˜hit the button’ (which is a great, quick game to play at home also).

We have started the introductions to our narrative stories and used our shared thinking partners to listen and feedback to each other.

Class charter 🀩

P6/7 voted on a theme for their class charter and have designed and presented their ideas to the class. They then voted collating everyone’s ideas together for how to lay out the rights of the child within their chosen theme. Afterwards, they got in to small groups, each taking on a role to design their chosen part, taking in to account they have to work with others to negotiate and discuss sizing for the whole charter to come together in proportion. It looks like it is going to look fantastic! 🌟
