Today, we were learning to do three different poems: Rhymes, Haiku and acrostic poems. The poems were about Autumn here again and about the leaves dyingπ. We then copied them on special bits of paper.
Our mathematicians doing addition and bingo
Today we were learning to add multiple numbers together using brackets and we also played double and half bingo. We did 6 addition questions which involved our own thinking and answers. There were 2 winners at bingo today who won at the same time!
Halloween Disco ππ¦π§ββοΈπ§π»ββοΈβ οΈπ·
P5/6 enjoyed the Halloween disco! Our costumes were very spooky and scary! We loved our snacks, the dance off and the creepy scare walk to try and scare some teachers!
P5/6 are back π
Apologies for the delay of our class blog, we are up and running now!
starting Monday, the children of P5/6 will become our bloggers, blogging their learning each day.
Below is a brief summary of what we have been learning so far!
We have been super busy this year from expressing our emotions through colour, being competitive and determined to beat our daily mile number of laps to improve our fitness, we have been creating fabulous narrative stories and getting treated to a 5 star Service of a baked potato and coleslaw from P6/7 and Mr McMullan. We have also been working on our fitness and participated in Joe Wicks challenge for schools, helped the P1&2βs with Sumdog, problem solving how to create pyramids with only 2 types of itemsΒ and creating information posters about Ancient Egyptian Pharoahs.Β
Halloween Information Texts
Primary 5/6 are using PowerPoint to create a Halloween themed information text. Thay can resize and select pictures without backgrounds and can resize and edit text size and colour. Finally they are saving their work as JPEG images.
Touch typing
Primary 5 / 6 are working on their typing skills. Mr Green is looking for the correct starting finger position, accurate typing and an improved typing speed! Some excellent touch typing and positive peer comments from this class today.
π
P5/6 have been completing 15 minutes after lunch every day personal reading. We have been discussing what interests us from a book cover and blurb and that it isnβt okay to begin a book and not enjoy it and choose a different one. We have been sharing the story lines of our books and our opinions to encourage others to try the books we are enjoying.
We have been focusing on place value in maths and working with 4-7 digits to read, write, order, partition and round.
In literacy, we have been reading our class novel for Big Reading. We have been taking turns to read aloud in class and have been completing work related to it.
Primary 5/6 have been creating our class charter, we were finding the articles which are most important to us within our class and school and matching the rights to our responsibilities.
We have also been using paint to select the colours which represent our emotions. Β Wait till you see our finished project!
In PE we were working on our team work skills. We have been making a bigger attempt to be supportive, encouraging and motivating to our peers. We then moved on to practising our dribbling skills to ensure we have control of the ball.
P5/6βs hard work so far…
Primary 5/6 have been focusing on our health topic about our emotions. We used Rileyβs islands of personalities from βInside Outβ to create our own. We realised that everyoneβs islands were different because we all like different things, however some we all had in common because family and friends are important to us β€οΈ.
We have also been playing bingo to practise our quick recall of table facts, number bonds and addition and subtraction calculations π€©ππΌ. Huge well done to our fab winners!
27.8.18 βΊοΈπ
Today P5/6 began their mini topic of emotions. We are going to be focussing on our feelings and linking it to the film Inside Out π₯.
We brainstormed all the feelings we could think of and then categorised them in to positive feelings, negative feelings and found some that depends on the situation.
We then categorised feelings under the 5 characters from inside out: Sadness, Joy, Anger, Disgust and Fear.
We began designing our art piece which will express and show our feelings through shape, line, pattern and colour.
Miss Park canβt wait to see the finished pieces! ππ€©ππΌπ
