Four of the Primary 6 boys took part in a Knex challenge at Greenfaulds High School and Woodlands won! We are all very proud of them!
P5/6 have also been researching reasons for and against the moon landing in 1969. We are finding lots of points to back each side up. We canβt wait to show our presentations and debate about it!

Robert Thorpe Rocket Art π πΌ π¨
P5/6 have focused on the artist Robert Thorpe who uses his left over paint from other paintings to create abstract backgrounds for his rocket pictures. We created our own rockets by pencil drawing and designing with pencil, pen and crayon and created our abstract backgrounds using colour, patterns using paint and pastels. We used techniques of blending, shading and using paint brushstrokes, splashed and rollers.
P5/6 become fitness trainers πͺπ»ππΌπββοΈπββοΈπ€©
P5/6 have been learning about low, medium and high intensity training. We have focussed on HIIT training and even made up our own 15 minutes training programmes.
Times Tables π’βοΈ
P5/6 are focussing on multiplication in Maths and practising their tables, working out ways to help them remember and finding links between the tables. One way we have been practising is creating games for the table weβre finding tricky.
More hard work from P5/6
We have been creating our own space themed imaginative writing project. We have been taking our time creating drafts and then redrafting in to a book. We check in with each other to show our progress and get feedback.
We have also been pairing up with P2/3 for reading buddies, reading their group novels as well a book for enjoyment. We have been asking them questions for understanding and finding wow words.
For measure, we focussed on volume and made our own smoothies and measured the volume of smoothie.

P5/6 made our own tomato sauce and experimented with the taste of garlic and onion and cooked pasta for a mid-day snack ππΌπ€©π π
We also have been researching about the moon and finding the answers to our many questions and teaching our peers. We showcased our knowledge and skills using PowerPoint to create fantastic presentations!
Chinese New Year π· 𧧠π¨π³ π
P5/6 have been learning all about Chinese New Year and the15 days of celebrations and the story of the Zodiac animals. Β Quiz us at home about the traditions! We then created bright and colourful posters for display to teach others about the celebrations and festivals surrounding this holiday π¨π³π§§π₯³ π.
PE πββοΈπββοΈ & The Ice Monster π βοΈ
P5/6 competed their 8 HIIT exercises trying to beat their previous score of βHow many in 1 minute?β They all done an amazing job! πWe focussed today on counting our resting pulse rate and working pulse rate and discussed why these are different. We also completed a 15 minute HIIT workout to see how our trainees should be after we each participate in carrying out our own HIIT programmes which we planned with our partners. We are all ready for the challenge next week πͺ β.
In literacy, we read Chapter 10 of The Ice Monster and focussed on taking notes of examples of onomatopoeia and good vocabulary, WOW words used. We canβt wait to create some of our own and use within our story writing.
P.E πββοΈπββοΈπ
P5/6 continued to attempt to beat our scores of how many of each exercise we can complete in our 1 minute challenges. We were fabulous πββοΈπββοΈπͺπ». We also began our fitness training programmes which we created in our pairs which had to last 15 minutes including work and rest timings.
