An icy day outdoors!

Today children were learning about the Christmas story and practising their drawing skills by drawing pictures from the Nativity. They were also practising their Christmas Nativity songs with the P1′ s in Mr Keirnan’ s class. Outdoors was very icy this morning so we only went out this afternoon. Children found more potatoes in our garden and enjoyed trying to find ways to break up the icy puddles.

A tasty snack!

Today for group time, children had a gingerbread person to decorate. When they finished it, they ate it for snack. They were yummy! We also had a ‘drink all your milk carton’ challenge. Well done to all those who managed to drink it all!

Christmas is coming!

Children had a lovely time helping to decorate our Christmas tree. We also went on a tree hunt outdoors and were playing with our new basketball net. At group time we were learning to recognise some of the letters in our names and practising our mark making.

An exciting day in nursery!

Today children were able to use our new and exciting ‘ reading loft!’ It is to encourage children to ‘ read’ more stories by having a fun space to do this in. Underneath the loft there is a closy space where children can  play with small world toys to use their imaginations to create their own stories!

We have also started a ‘ marble’ reward system where children have to try and win marbles from the teachers and when they have filled up their jar and won all the teachers ‘ marbles, they win a reward. We said that the ‘ reading loft was their  special reward this time ( but nebxt time it won’t be something as big!)

For snack children had wraps with ham/cheese and fruit. Our challenge for ‘Micky’ s Learning Ladder’ is to put on our jackets by ourselves for outdoor play.

Today children enjoyed playing in our new stage area where they were dancing and playing musical instruments. Outdoors children were sorting out letters from numbers and then finding the letters in their name.  Snack was a potato scone with butter and fruit.
