Well done to the winner of the Scooter competition organised by the NLC School Dinner service.
Glasgow Music Festival
Our School choir performed on Monday at the Glasgow Music Festival in the City Halls. Mr. Clark, Mrs. Fullerton and Mrs. Robertson from the office accompanied the children and were so impressed with their fabulous rendition of “Humpty Dumpty was a Wonderful Guy” and “Sing”. It took a lot of courage to sing in such a grand venue, in front of all of the other choirs, but as usual, Tannochside rose to the occasion. Thanks to Mrs. McGregor, our Kodaly teacher who also conducts the choir.
Something Fishy in P4!
Primary 4 have been looking after Brown Trout eggs while they develop into Fry.
Each day we were faced with real life problems as the children had to use ice packs to make sure that the temperature of the water stayed between 8 and 10 degrees. We also had to clean out any debris and remove any dead eggs or fish.
The fish developed from eggs to early alevin and late alevin before becoming fry. We didn’t need to feed the fish because they had a yolk sack from which they took their food.
Yesterday, we said goodbye to our little fish when some of us took them down to the River Clyde at Strathclyde Park.
Our fish have now started their new journey of life where they will need to fend for themselves in the river and look out for any predators.
Fruit Points.
Thanks to our partnership with Morrisons superstore in Bellshill, the children are enjoying a range of fruity delights when they win their classes fruit points. The collection of fruit which the children can choose from is greatly appreciated with some children selecting a bag with 3 or 4 different types of fruit.
Here you can see pictures of last month’s winners but we would like to see some different faces each month. We currently have 33% of the children bringing a healthy snack with them, but as a health promoting school we would like to at least double this figure. Please continue to support us by packing a delicious, healthy snack for you child to enjoy.
Every time they bring a healthy snack, they can take a fruit point and every month a winner from each class is selected.
Victorian Inventions
Primary 6b have been working on the Victorians’ in class. They were set a project where they had to research and make a 3d Victorian invention. They worked very hard and have produced FANTASTIC models. Please have a look at their wonderful work! WELL DONE!
P5a’s Rumble in the Jungle
We in P5a have been very busy transforming our classroom into a rainforest – this terms Social Studies topic. We hope this will inspire and motivate our learning as well as being a fun environment learn in. We have been working hard at home too, both on our personal rainforest project and creating our 3D jungle animal – Mrs. Fullerton can’t wait to see them! Each Friday it is important to bring in our project research as this is when we work co-operatively to produce our rainforest Fact File Challenge. To be successful learners, we must share and collate our research in order to produce our information Fact File. It will be hard work but really worth it – feel free to come and read all about it!
Making Bread
Primary 2 have had a great day today making bread. After lunch we enjoyed tasting it! It was delicious, what fab bakers we are!
P5a Burns Supper
P5a decided to celebrate our famous bards birthday in style – we had our very own Burns Supper. We researched the traditions of this celebration and wrote appropriate instructions for our Genre Writing, this helped us both to understand and follow the step by step procedures of a Burns Supper. We think our photos relate how much fun was had by all. Some of us were brave enough to taste Haggis and it is safe to say it was enjoyed by most of the children who decided to give it a go, while others couldn’t get enough! A day to be proud of – we think Rabbie would think so too!
Our Braw Burns’ Assembly
On the 25th January 2013 – 254 years to the day of Robert Burns’ birth, we held an amazing Burns’ Assembly to celebrate the life of Scotland’s Nation Poet, Rabbie Burns.
Every class had learned poems, songs and taken part in competitions. There was an excellent turn out of friends and family – thank you to everyone who came.
Burns’ Assembly
Remember that our Burns’ assembly takes place this Friday, January 25th (Robert Burn’s birth date). All of the classes have been practicing songs and poems to celebrate the life of Scotland’s favourite son.
All friends and family of Tannochside are welcome to join us. It will start at 9.30am in the Assembly Hall. Please join us for some Shortbread and a cuppa!
