Higher English
This group are working through Section 2 of the “Higher Language” text book. This work helps them to build on the Knowledge About Language they developed at National 5, revising many of the techniques they have already encountered. It also introduces new language techniques which they will need to know for Higher.
S2 English
S2 are working on a reading text of thir choice. This work started last week and is ongoing. It uses the Active Reading strategies students are familiar with. All students should ensure they have messaged or emailed their class teacher with the name of the text and the author’s name by Wednesday 10th June. Much of their time will be spent reading their text ! How lucky is that ?
Students are reminded they should be reading for enjoyment regularly. In addition to this we would recommend watching and listening to films, documentaries, dramas etc. This allows sudents to analyse media texts and deepen their knowledge of this medium. Asking questions on plot, camera angles, dialogue, setting, character etc can really engage pupils and get them thinking about the craft of creating such a text.
S1 English
S1 are working on Grammar and Punctuation revision tasks which cover a wide variety of concepts, most of which they have covered before but are well worth revisiting. In addition to this pupils have reading and language tasks some days to provide variety.
Pupils are reminded they should be reading for enjoyment regularly. When they finish a book they should message Mrs Burton to have it included in our “Lockdown Reading Challenge.” In addition to this we would recommend watching and listening to films, documentaries, dramas etc. This allows sudents to analyse media texts and deepen their knowledge of this medium. Asking questions on plot, camera angles, dialogue, setting, character etc can really engage pupils and get them thinking about the craft of creating such a text.
