THS Languages

S2 should be working on their chosen book using the Active Reading booklet to practise the Active Reading Strategies.

Work should be sent to their teacher using MS Teams.

This group have been working hard to develop their knowlegde of language which will be highly beneficial for Higher and indeed for the world beyond.  This week they are looking at word choice and how effective it can be when creating text.

Miss MacPhail’s class are coming to the end of their work on punctuation as we appraoch the end of the academic year.

This week they are  finishing off their work on apostrophes, looking at ellipsis before ending the term with another quiz. 

Thaks to the First Years who took part in the quiz on Friday and those who messaged to say they had enjyed it.  To build on this, and following many requests, we will thie week  have a Kahoot quiz every day to consolidate what we have been learning that day !

Today is the big day for the S1 Kahoot Quiz !  I have posted the link and the PIN on both MS Teams and Edmodo.  Well done to all who have completed this and many thanks to those who messaged us to say they had enjoyed it !  You have until Sunday to take part in this quiz.

Think we will have another one before the end of term !

Languages Faculty MS Teams Codes

Please note we are moving from Edmodo to MS Teams.  For the next (and last week) we will post on both platforms, however from August we will only be using MS Teams.

Pupils are encouraged to join the appropriate MS Team today to give them time to  become familiar with MS Teams.  Codes are attached to this message, pupils can access them by clicking the underlined text at the top of this post.

Codes are set up in new year groups, therefore anyone who was in S1 before lockdown would now join the S2 Team.

S1 are continuing to work at developing their knowledge and skills on grammar and punctuation.  We are planning a Kahoot quiz later in the week which will consolidate all of their learning so far.  Pupils can revise by acessing the teaching materials for Days 1-10 on  Edmodo.

Those working towards N5  in 2021  are continuing their work on ‘Sailmaker” by Alan Spence. They are working on character, using any information from the reading of Act 1 and documenting and organising this information on character visualisers.  Pupils are encouraged to be as creative as they can with their visualisers – using colour, images etc. Pupils will then move on to think about the Themes which are evident in Act 1.

Those working towards Higher in 2021 are working on punctuation this week as we wok to revise language and build their knowledge for next session.
