S4 N4 English

This week pupils are continuing to work on their Added Value unit. Full instructions can be found on MS Teams.

S3 English Mr Kedra’s class

Pupils will be completing their persuasive essay by writing paragraph five and six. Pupils will search for information on how knife crime can be dealt with in the near future to support their statements. Finally, they will spend time putting across their personal message to their readers.

S3 English

This week S3 will begin reading the first part of the story ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’ and complete a visualiser on the character of Mary Maloney. The PPT can be found on MS Teams in Class Materials.

S2 English

This week pupils are continuing their work on a short story unit, ‘Charles’. Classes 2.1-2.4 can find full instructions and the PowerPoint on MS Teams. Classes 2.5-2.7 do not have English this week.

S1 English

This week pupils are continuing their work on the Rabbie Burns unit. Classes 1.1-1.3 will be planning their own Burns Supper, learning about Scottish foods and Scottish words. Classes 1.4-1.6 are learning about the ‘Address to The Haggis’.

Language Faculty – Live Lessons Week Beginning 15/01/21

P1&2 – National 5 English Tutorial – Mrs Burton’s class. (An opportunity to practise R.U.A.E. skills and ask for help with them.)

Thursday 18th February. 

P3 & 4 – Higher English Tutorial – Mrs Burton’s class. ( An opportunity to practise the ten mark question in the Critical Reading paper.)

2.55pm-3.45pm – National 5 English – Tutorial – Miss MacPhail’s 4A1 class. (Further work in preparation for the Practice R.U.A.E.) on Tuesday 23rd February.

 

N5 English

Next week all four National 5 classes will be revising Reading for Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation and offering an opportunity for students to practise these skills.  Following in from this we are planning an opportunity for pupils to practise RUAE under exam timed conditions on Tuesday 23rd February.  Students will have 90 minutes to answer 30 marks worth of questions and submit them to their class teacher.  This will be a formative assessment to help students, in collaboration with their teachers, to identify their areas of strength and those they need to work on.

S1 French

Pupils in classes 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 should complete the tasks on the continued subject of “Family”. The PowerPoint is on MS Teams.

Higher English

Ms MacDonald’s Higher class  will be working on slides 69-72 during a live lesson on Friday at 9.30am. The session will focus on examining the character of Utterson. All work will be posted in the channel.

Miss MacPhail’s Higher class will be consolidating work on chapter 8 of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by ensuring that their character, theme and setting visualisers are up to date before going on to read chapter 9.

Mrs Nelson’s Higher class are to read chapter 10 of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and then write a summary of the chapter.

S2 Spanish and French

S2 classes don’t have Spanish Thursday or Friday this week. 2.5-2.7 should be completing week 2 of the French desert island project today and sending it to their teacher is they haven’t already done so.
