Today is World Book Day – a day we always celebrate. There are lots of fun activities on the Teams pages. We are very excited to launch the Taylor version of “The Masked Reader” – see if you can guess who is reading the book ! We can’t wait to share this with you ! Please find attached your World Book Day token. These can be exchanged for one of the £1 WBD books which are available in the Supermarkets or you can use it as part payment for any other book. Normally we would distribute these in school. Have fun and happy reading !!!!!
Staffing Updates
We are delighted to welcome back Mrs Alison Rooney to the faculty. Mrs Rooney has returned following a lengthy illness, we wish are well and are very glad to have her back with us. Mrs Rooney will be delivering both English and Spanish when our young people return.
We are also delighted to welcome Mrs Frances Fraser to the department. Mrs Fraser will be working in the English Department and we are delighted to have her on board. Mrs Fraser looks forward to meeting pupils and parents and getting to know the wonderful community that is Taylor High School.
S5/6 N5 English
This week, S5/6 will continue working on The Lighthouse and will look at literary techniques such as foreshadowing and pathetic fallacy where they will analyse examples from the text.
Higher Spanish
This week pupils are continuing to work on the topic of employability with some reading and listening tasks. Pupils should also complete Sample 6 from the directed writing booklet.
S4 N5 Spanish
This week pupils are working on the topic of Holidays and are improving their Reading and Listening Skills.
S3 Spanish
This week pupils will be completing work on the theme of ‘Pocket Money’. There is a text and exercises to complete.
S2 French
This week pupils will be working on the week 4 tasks of the desert island project. Pupils will be deciding what entertainment will be available on their island!
S2 Spanish
This week pupils will be continuing to practice vocabulary to discuss the distance between different places in the town. Pupils should work through slides 81-93 from “En el pueblo” PowerPoint.
S1 Spanish
Pupils are continuing with learning how to describe people. In particular, physical description and the differences between describing a man or a woman.
Higher English
Miss MacPhail’s class are finishing their work on chapter 9 of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. There will be a tutorial on Tuesday afternoon where pupils can ask questions and talk through example answers for the 10 mark question in the Scottish Text section of the Critical Reading paper.
Mrs Nelson’s class will update visualisers and will be working on the 2019 Critical Reading Paper. They will be discussing the 10 mark question at Wednesday’s live lesson.
Ms MacDonald’s class will work on chapter 10 of Jekyll and Hyde. They will also spend some time specifically on the 10 mark question. Live lessons will be on Monday and Friday this week.
