S3 English

S3 will continue work on ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’. They will be thinking about characterisation and will be producing visualisers on the character of Mary Maloney in the second part of the story, selecting textual evidence to support their statements.

S2 English

This week classes 2.1-2.4 will be starting a media unit on Jurassic Park. They will develop their summarising and paraphrasing skills and will start to look at media techniques.

Classes 2.5-2.7 do not have English this week.

S1 English

This week classes 1.1-1.3 will be planning, writing and editing their own poems about their favourite Scottish food.

Classes 1.4-1.6 will be staring a media study of Disney Pixar’s brilliant film, ‘Up’. This week they will be analysing film posters and summarising key points of the film.

S1 French

Pupils are continuing with the unit on Family. Pupils should also complete any unfinished work that they have not submitted.

Higher Spanish

This week pupils are starting the Employability unit and should complete a reading and a listening on this new topic. Pupils should also complete a Directed Writing task as a follow on from their assignment 2 weeks ago. In addition, pupils are reminded that they should be learning their talking answers and starting to prepare to undertake this exam.

S2 French

Pupils should continue with the Week 3 tasks on the desert island project. Some of the islands are sounding great so far!

S2 Spanish

This week pupils will be finishing off their problem solving map activity from last week. They should also note some new vocabulary relating to how near/ far places are and complete a listening task to practice this. All resources will be posted in the appropriate channel on the days which pupils have Spanish.

S1 Spanish

This week pupils are learning more vocabulary to describe people and are using Linguascope to practice all the new words.

Higher English

This week, Ms MacDonald’s class will examine the conventions of Gothic literature in Jekyll and Hyde by working through the Powerpoint. There will be two live lessons this week. On Wednesday, the lesson will look at the ten mark question and on Friday, the lesson will look at general questions about the text.

Miss MacPhail’s Higher class are moving on to Chapter 9 of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Pupils will make sure that their theme, character and setting visualisers are up to date before exploring the conventions of the horror genre. On Tuesday they will have a live tutorial where pupils will have the opportunity to ask questions about the 10 mark question and any issues about the chapter.

Mrs Nelson’s class are working through tasks on Chapter 10 of ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ (including questions, visualisers and analysis of an extract). They will have a live lesson on Wednesday over periods 3 and 4.
