S1 English

S1 are continuing to work at developing their knowledge and skills on grammar and punctuation.  We are planning a Kahoot quiz later in the week which will consolidate all of their learning so far.  Pupils can revise by acessing the teaching materials for Days 1-10 on  Edmodo.

N5 English

Those working towards N5  in 2021  are continuing their work on ‘Sailmaker” by Alan Spence. They are working on character, using any information from the reading of Act 1 and documenting and organising this information on character visualisers.  Pupils are encouraged to be as creative as they can with their visualisers – using colour, images etc. Pupils will then move on to think about the Themes which are evident in Act 1.

Higher English

Those working towards Higher in 2021 are working on punctuation this week as we wok to revise language and build their knowledge for next session.

S2 English

S2 should be working on a novel/non-fiction book of their choice.  Pupils are reminded they should have indicated which text they are working on by now.

Miss MacPhail’s S2

This week Miss MacPhail’s S2 class are working on “Tense” and “Apostrophes.” Last week’s Kahoot quiz was a great success.  Pupils are working toward another before the end of term to help them consolidate their learning and have some fun together !

Miss MacPhail’s S2

This week Miss MacPhail’s S2 class are finishing up their work on prepositions before moving on to possessive pronouns,  then antonyms and synonyms. On Friday there will be a quiz covering what we have learned so far !

Higher English

This group are working through Section 2 of the “Higher Language” text book.   This work helps them to build on the Knowledge About Language they developed at National 5, revising many of the techniques they have already encountered.  It also introduces new language techniques which they will need to know for Higher.

S2 English

S2 are working on a reading text of thir choice.  This work started last week and is ongoing.  It uses the Active Reading strategies students are familiar with.  All students should ensure they have messaged or emailed their class teacher with the name of the text and the author’s name by Wednesday 10th June.   Much of their time will be spent reading their text !  How lucky is that ?

Students  are reminded they should be reading for enjoyment regularly.  In addition to this we would recommend watching and listening to films, documentaries, dramas etc.  This allows sudents to analyse media texts and deepen their knowledge of this medium.  Asking questions on plot, camera angles, dialogue, setting, character etc can really engage pupils and get them thinking about the craft of creating such a text.

S1 English

S1 are working on Grammar and Punctuation revision tasks which cover a wide variety of concepts, most of which they have covered before but are well worth revisiting.  In addition to this pupils have reading and language tasks some days to provide variety.

Pupils are reminded they should be reading for enjoyment regularly.   When they finish a book they should message Mrs Burton to have it included in our “Lockdown Reading Challenge.” In addition to this we would recommend watching and listening to films, documentaries, dramas etc.  This allows sudents to analyse media texts and deepen their knowledge of this medium.  Asking questions on plot, camera angles, dialogue, setting, character etc can really engage pupils and get them thinking about the craft of creating such a text.

S1 English

Students are working on a variety of tasks, some reading and some language.  We are using this time to revise language knowledge and techniques which will be helpful as we move forward.

Pupils should send their work to their teacher.
