We were lucky enough to receive a grant from the Edina Trust Science Grant, and used it to purchase 3 sets of Raising Robots Lego sets. These Lego Education Spike sets combine following Lego building instructions, with coding creations to bring them to life with motorised movements, sound and lights!
We will use these in a lunchtime club for P6 and P7 for term 2 (This will run 4 days a week). After Easter, we will have some of the children from P6 and P7 use their expertise to guide some of the P5 children through similar activities at their own lunchtime club. Although Mrs Owens will create a Microsoft Team to help oversee, and introduce a different set of potential builds every week (Amazing Amusement Parks, Science We Cannot See, Crazy Carnival Games etc) , this will be very much a child-led experience, with the pupils selecting who to work with, and whether to follow a suggested set of instructions, enhance or adapt a given build, or go completely off script with their own designs!
