Today we discussed some of the art produced by Vincent Van Gogh. We then produced some art that merged Christmas and Van Gogh!

Yesterday, we had a fabulous time learning more about the Romans. First we went to the Heritage Centre in Motherwell where we learned how the Romans introduced lettuce and rabbits to Britain (amongst other things)! We were also able to hold weapons and dress like the Romans did. After lunch we then travelled to Strathclyde Park to see the ruins of the Roman baths. Everyone enjoyed a fantastic day and pupils represented St Kevin’s excellently.

This week our P3/4 scientists took part in an Ice Investigation with Miss Fergusson exploring different methods of melting.
We decided to time three different methods of melting ice to see which one would be the quickest.
The methods were:
To make sure the experiment was fair we used equal sizes of ice for each method.
We made our predictions and then undertook our experiments.
After timing the three different methods our results showed us that ice melts quickest under a high heat.

This week our P3/4 sculptors have been learning about China’s Terracotta Army.
After looking at the Warriors online and hearing the fascinating story of why they were created, we decided to create our own miniature versions out of terracotta clay.
We has great fun experimenting with the clay and forming our Warriors.
Unfortunately some of them ended up losing some limbs, but we realised this was more authentic as many of the real Terracotta Warriors are in a similar state!

Hello from Primary 7,
We have been learning about WW1 this past week as it’s Remembrance Day. We have learned about how the war started, the impact it had on Britain and factors leading to the end of the war. It is important to remember those people who bravely fought for their country in the Great War as well as wars since.
“When you go Home, tell them of us and say, For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today” John Maxwell Edmunds 1916
We learned about the poem ‘In Flanders fields’ by John McCrae. We were inspired by this poem to create silhouette pictures.

Hello from Primary 7,
Lots of fun was had by all at the Halloween party. Miss Jackson was very impressed with our costumes, everything from zombies, skeletons, devils, spooky dolls as well as some familiar faces from Harry Potter.
We cant believe this will be our last Halloween in St Kevin’s, we played games, had Halloween snacks, watched a Halloween movie and danced.
